The oldest printing firm in Abilene, and one of the town's oldest businesses, Abilene Printing & Stationery shares a common history with the Abilene Reporter News. The two were founded by Charles E. Gilbert as a single company in 1882.From 1888 to 1924, Abilene Printing was the operator of the Abilene Reporter ( now the Abilene Reporter News ), as well as being a commercial printing business. In 1924 the publishing and printing business were divided into two separate corporations: The Reporter Publishing Co. Abilene Printing and Stationery CoGeorge Anderson, who started to work as a printer in the company in 1894, became owner and president of Abilene Printing & Stationery at the time. He was active in the company's management until his death in 1964.
