Since 1975 Meals On Wheels Plus, Inc., a local non-profit organization, has been providing home delivered meals for frail persons who are unable to prepare balanced meals for themselves daily. A hot noon meal is delivered by trained volunteers to people 65 yrs. & older, and to younger adults with one or more disabilities who live in the Abilene, Hamby, Hodges & Potosi areas. Your gifts to drive Away Hunger in the Abilene area can be mailed to: Meals On Wheels Plus Inc. P.O Box 903 Abilene, Texas 79604 AMENITY Meals can be served on a long-term basis or for a short time while someone recovers from a hospital stay or accident. Meals are provided regardless of the individual's financial situation. Those who are unable to make a donation for the service are asked to do so, although many do receive their meals free of charge. Groceries On Wheels, Books On Wheels, Pet Food On Wheels. Electric fans provided during the summer. Friendships are formed between vol unteers & those they deliver meals to.

*Volunteer delivers check on the well-being of each person on their route. *Volunteers call 911 when they find someone in a life threatening situation. *Volunteers report unmet needs & steps are taken to meet the need if at all possible. *Breakfast is provided on Tues., Wed., & Friday for a limited number of clients who live alone. PRICE RANGE Volunteers & Donations are welcomed. Donations in memory of, or in honor of someone on a special occasion are welcomed. Contributions to help provide home delivered meals or for the "Groceries on Wheels" program are needed.
