any 5 star review was set up by people in the office and you should believe the 1 star reviews they are the real story of Chud the dud. They have 46 years because of Don who is senile now and has Rich a clueless boy running it. I know all this cause i was a customer who end up working there.

i feel wronged by this company that I thought I could trust - lured me into a new unit by "condemning" a working unit and then installed a wrong size unit "trust me everything will be fine", denies unit is mis sized and is full of never ending excuses despite being provided data showing humidity is above 60% & rate of electric use increased since the instant the unit was installed and their technicians telling us it is wrongly sized and will not provide sufficient heat this winter; also secured a loan and filled out forms for a loan for me that did not account for a $29 activation fee that resulted in me receiving notices that i was over credit limit before i received my first bill - this business has not demonstrated they can do anything correctly or cares for its customers

I've never written a review before and I wish I would've read some before calling Chudd. My air conditioner stopped blowing cold air so I called Chudd. They charged $99 for the diagnostic tests which I felt was reasonable. It was a blown capacitor which they fixed in 15 minutes with a $15 part, but charged $359. When I asked the tech why the mark up was so high, his answer was that they have to pay the girl that answers the phone. Then he starts to go on about how they could have charged me to fix more expensive parts, but they didn't. Like should be grateful that they only overcharged me for a part that was actually broken and they didn't run a bigger scam. Then he went on to say there is a national "book price" and that is what he has to charge. So I called a few local places to ask them for a quote on the repair and the highest of the three quotes was $169. I've never felt the need to write a review before, but after this experience, I will get the word out in every way possible.

I was desperate on a holiday weekend, my AC broke and my house was a sauna, unlivable. They came the next morning after only one phone call and diagnosed and fixed the problem in 1 visit within 1 hour. The prices were reasonable especially for a Sunday morning of a holiday weekend. It's family owned and operated and I felt the non-corporate type of special care.

of note- prior to calling CHUD i called a different company that rhymes with "Verizon" and after waiting 15 minutes on hold they couldn't send anyone over for 2 weeks, my house would have melted by then, no thanks!

Thank you CHUD!!

Disappointed - I've had Chud replace my furnace and provide servicing for it and other furnaces at a rental unit. I've also recommended them and gotten them business based on my recommendations.

I was recently disappointed with how Chud owners managed a leaky filter they installed on my oil furnace. Since it was past the 30/90 day warrantee, they wouldn't even come look at it because oil isn't their specialty. I was told that they only offered this service to me as a courtesy. In short, I had to pay $140 for them to install the filter in June, and then another $140 to have someone else come in over the winter and replace the leaking filter.

Despite repeated attempts, neither Rich nor Don would call back. Given how they've managed this issue, I can't recommend Chud and won't be using their services.

I am like most people in that I read lots and lots of reviews and write very few, if any at all. So, I was so impressed with Chud that I wanted to show my appreciation here. Mike came out and did thorough job of assessing the costs of replacing a furnace and adding A/C and gave us a price we could live with. And they stuck to that price! Paul and Josh were the main two installers and they were both very polite, careful and clean as they went about their work. My wife and I both commented how enjoyable they were. So, YES, we recommend Chud. Bob O. Glenside, Pa

we recently used CHUD to assist us with our water heater. we were referred by a customer of theirs. The tech that came out to install the heater was great. Very knowledgeable. The price was competitive. I was very happy with the service provided. I would use them again and recommend them to someone else.

I read the review listed below...

I read the review listed below and I really feel that there are two sides to every story, so before I had anyone come out to our home for an estimate I called CHUD and asked about the charges for a repair. I found them to be COMPLETELY honest and upfront about the service call charge and labor. I also found it refreshing that CHUD would give back part of the charges if a new unit was needed. (I also called 3 other companies and asked their charges and found that a service call charge & labor charge are standard in the industry.) I then set an appointment for the salesperson to come out. He arrived on time, well prepaired with literature and even gave us an opportunity to look through a presentation on his ipad while he took measurements. He spent time answering all of our questions and even discouraged us from spending too much money on something we didn't need. He gave us a verbal "ballpark" price and said he would get us a written proposal with 24 hours. When I woke in the morning a proposal was in my email. I scheduled the installation for a few days later. The crew that came in was very conscious of my home and made sure everything was protected. They introduced themselves, explained what would be happening and went right to work. At the end of the day they cleaned up and gave me a full demonstration on all the functions of the equipment and asked if I had any questions. They left me the paperwork and left without a trace of ever being there. The best part was the the salesperson actually returned while the job was in progress to make sure that I was getting the best job possible. I received a Thank You card a few days later...that never happens! I would proudly recommend CHUD to anyone who asks my opinion.

I've been a contract customer ...

I've been a contract customer of CHUD Heating & Air-Conditioning for many years. I pay them an annual fee and they guarantee to provide repair services. After quite a few years of paying their fee, I finally had a problem. I called them to come out and they told me they charge a $125 service fee to come to my home. I argued that was outrageous since I have a service contract, but they wouldn''t come unless I agreed to pay the fee. Since my heater wasn't working, I finally gave in an d agreed to pay under protest. They sent out their service man who looked at the heater for 2 minutes and first recommended I replace the entire unit. I told him it was less that 10 years old and came with a warranty. He then started to make a list of the "defective parts" although he didn't do more than look at them. He never examined or tested any of them. After 15 minutes of listing the "defective parts", he asked for my credit card for the $125 service fee. I asked him what service he had provided other that to list what he thought were broken parts. I also asked him what my service contract provided. He said he didn't know anything about that; he just demanded immediate payment. I called 2 days later when I hadn't received a callback and spoke with a man I've dealt with for years as the President of the company. He told me the parts wouldn't be avaiilable for several days and would cost me well over $2,000. I asked him about my service contract and he said it was void because my sump pump had failed and they consider that a flood which is an :Act of God" so the warranty I've been pauing for several years is worthless. I argued with him, but he wouldn't bend at all. In desperation, I asked him if he would apply the $125 service fee towards the charge and he refused absolutely. I then called another plumbing company. They sent out a man who arrived promptly and spent 1 hour and 45 minutes and fixed the entire unit. I was charged $150 for labor for the 2 hours and $6 for my heater chimney pipe. He cleaned that out completely and didn't charge me anything additional.

I STRONGLY WARN ANYONE CONSIDERING USING CHUD HVAC LOCATED IN ABINGTON, PAM AGAINST CONTRACT WITH THEM FOR THEIR WARRANTY OR USING THEM FOR ANY SERVICES. THEY ARE RIP-OFF ARTISTS AND TOTAL CON MEN!
