The Addison Police Department is comprised of two divisions, which are field services and support services. Field services include patrol operations, crime prevention, communications, the traffic unit and crossing guards. Support services consist of planning, research, development, training, criminal investigations, property and evidence, code enforcement, communications and records management. The department provides law enforcement for the village of Addison, Ill., and is a division of the community s government. The department s primary responsibilities include providing enforcement of laws that relate to crimes against persons and property, as well as initiating investigations into such crimes. It also enforces codes and ordinances pertaining to traffic and parking. In addition, the department participates in programs that are geared toward community awareness and crime prevention. The police department maintains records and compiles reports regarding emergency calls, types of reported crimes and offender registrations.
