Perry's Ice Cream was founded in 1918 when Morton Perry, a broom maker, purchased a very small dairy in Akron, N.Y. The dairy was operated as a home delivery and wholesale business until 1932. At that time, the Akron High School cafeteria manager asked Morton if he could supply ice cream to the school. Excited about the prospect of growing his company in the midst of the Depression, Morton used a Perry family recipe for ice cream that his mother gave him. Perry s Ice Cream is an ice cream manufacturer with frozen distribution services for Perry s, Ben & Jerry s, Friendly s, H agen-Dazs and Nestl . Perry s provides products to grocery and convenient stores, schools, hospitals and other institutions, club stores and food service vending companies. Perry s sells and distributes to New York, Pennsylvania, Ohio, New Jersey, Vermont, Massachusetts and Connecticut.
