I didn't have the same experience as the first reviewer, which I strongly suspect is a fake review put there by the company based on the wording. I am extremely disappointed by my service with Akron Orthotic Solutions. When I called over the phone to order my infant son's new set of Mitchell shoes (we got his first pair from this company but it was all done through the hospital at that time) one if the first things the receptionist said to me was "you're insurance isn't going to cover this, they'll only give you one pair a year". I told her I had a backup insurance that would cover it if an appeal to the first insurance was denied. When I showed up to have him measured for his mitchell shoes, again I was told about how my insurance wasn't going to cover them (by the same person). I submitted the backup info for the insurance to her. After my 9 month old was measured, as I was coming out of the treatment room, I heard her hang up the phone and say to the doctor "great, that's gonna take two years" and then she described the process involved. I was told I would get a call when the shoes came in. When the shoes came, I sent my husband in with my son to pick them up because I was working that day... Let me tell you, this place is hard to find. It looks like a house more than a business and the sign to the place is tiny. My husband had trouble finding it and was late. They tried to force him to reschedule the appointment even though it appeared no other patients were there and it wasn't busy. I totally understand if someone is late how it can mess up your business schedule, but I don't appreciate that such a huge deal was made out of it, as when he came home he told me that he felt uncomfortable there. When my husband was given the shoes for my infant, he was again told by the same person that our insurance wasn't going to cover the shoes. I already took care of this, and talked about this two times with these people. I feel they only cared about the money for the shoes and nothing else. I also thought it was super rude to be told repeatedly in a crappy tone about what my insurance would and would not cover, in addition to having to hear her exasperatedly say how long it would take for them to be reimbursed. I'm not an idiot, I know what my insurance covers. I had already made arrangements to take care of this with a backup service. It doesn't change the fact that my sons needs the shoes. I would have rather they just said "we can't help you". They made me feel embarrassed to be a broke parent who doesn't have super amazing insurance that covers everything. I felt like they were going beyond just being informative. It's like what do you want me to say? Sorry I'm poor and have crappy insurance? Needless to say we will NOT be coming back to get any of his other shoes from here (not that I think they'll care if they lose us). I think they put their needs first, or tried to, and not my sons - so no idea what the previous reviewer was talking about. Me AND my husband both work and are FULL TIME university students, we switch off with each other's schedules so that we don't have to put our son in Day Care. It's not like we asked to be below the FPL and to have a disabled child, and I don't appreciate having to feel embarrassed for having medicaid. For shame…
