During grades 4-8, my great granddaughter (I have legal guardianship) attended Ohdela Home School. If there was a rating higher than a 5, Ohdela would receive it from me. My gr granddaughter's experience (as well as mine) was top notch. The online interaction the student has with the teachers, as well as with other students, was exceptional. My granddaughter experienced the death of her father during 7th grade and the teachers were told by the principle and advisor to keep an eye on her for signs of her withdrawing from participating in online classes or other signs of depression. Everyone from principle down to the teachers would call to encourage her, because they knew what an emotional struggle she was having, due to her dad's death. The teachers are always available for after-class tutoring. The communication between teachers and myself was beyond exceptional, unlike my negative experience with the public school system. The ONLY reason my great granddaughter was withdrawn from Ohdela and returned into the public school system this year, was due to personal health issues of my own. Taking care of my health, meant I was going to be unavailable to oversee her live class attendance during the day and to make sure she was kept on-track, in addition to overseeing that her homework assignments were completed - which is necessary parents, unless you have a very self-starting, motivated, organized, and independent student; for this reason only, was she put back into the public school setting. Overall, I could not say enough positive things about Ohdela. I was more than 100% satisfied with every aspect of the school and could not recommend it highly enough.
