The Dougherty County Police Department is a law enforcement agency that promotes public safety, identifies and solves criminal cases and safeguards citizens rights. It maintains detective, patrol and administrative services divisions. The office supports the School Resource Officer (SRO) Program, which improves relations between the police department and youths. The Dougherty County Police Department keeps the citizens informed by providing lectures and programs to churches, civic clubs, schools and other concerned groups. In addition to other duties, the county police is responsible for assisting the tax department in the collection of taxes on mobile homes.
