Provided by YP.comI brought a coat in to ask about the cost to replace the lining (it was my mom's coat). The man (who I believe owns the business with his wife) told me that he didn't know if he would be able to find the correct lining to do the alterations. I left the coat and my mother's phone number with the understanding that he would call my mom if he was able to find the lining, and not to do anything to the coat (including dry clean it) until he quoted her a price.
2 weeks later (I dropped 2 bags off to be shipped off and cleaned at the time I dropped the coat off) I called on a Friday and was told that I would be called back. I was never called back. The following Monday I called and was told the coat was done and it was $130 for the alterations. I was shocked. That was more than my mom paid for the coat. I was told that the man would call me back regarding this issue. I was never called back.
The following day I went to the store. The man was there. I asked him why he went ahead with the alteration without ever letting my mom (or myself) know the price). He told me that he would call my mom and "work something out". In addition, my two bags had been sitting there for 2 weeks (the time he told me it would take for them to be sent out and cleaned) - the cleaner did not do that type of bag. Why he didn't call to tell me this was the case and to come pick them up is beyond me.
Today (yesterday is when I stopped by) I talked to my mom. She picked up her coat and paid $130. The nicest thing that he did was let her use her credit card to pay for it when the cashier insisted on cash or check and she had neither on her.
I cannot believe that someone would go through with an expensive alteration (or any alteration for that matter) without consulting a client. I tried to reach him via the phone but he is at home today. What's done is done but I would not recommend this tailor/dry cleaner for even a simple alteration/dry cleaning after this experience.

Provided by YP.comI brought in a $200 Ralph Lauen dress to be shortened and taken in for my son's wedding. When I tried it on after alterations, the back was puckered and there was a bulge. they insisted that when I was looking straight ahead,( rather than turning to examine the faulty area) it hung perfectly. I reluctantly paid $90 and brought it home. When it still had the puckers etc. I brought it back two more times asking them to fix it .They first told me I just needed to adjust the lining, then admitted that they couldn't work with ithe material. I spent the next week trying everything I could think of to get the dress to lay right in the back. Luckily, the day before the wedding, I was able to buy another dress to wear. Wedding guests asked about my original dress. All were as appalled as I about the botched job and encouraged me to seek restitution. I went back to them and the male owner accused me of wearing the dress and then returning it. I will NEVER bring anything there again.
