I purchased a Baptism Robe for my Pastor (in appreciation for my up coming Baptism) and took it to Wendy’s Embroidered Specialties to have his name embroidered on the left chest. My Pastor’s wife dropped it off and picked it up. I retrieved it from her and when I got it home it was aligned incorrectly. The name was climbing to the left. I took it back to the shop and spoke with a gentleman (did not get his name) who took the robe to the back room to talk to the workers and because there is only a cloth curtain dividing the rooms I could hear everything they said. He put the robe on and they all were saying “it is straight”, “it looks straight to me”, “oh yeah it is straight”, you get the idea. When he came back out to the counter he was still wearing the Robe. He stated to me “I have never worn a Ministers Robe before” and I stated to him “Well you can’t say that now can you. Please don’t come out here and tell me that is straight because I have eyes and I can see that it is crooked”. He made me feel as if I were wrong in bringing it back. I told him that I would wait for Angie to get there and I would speak with her about it. I waited in my car and when Angie arrived she came out to my car and spoke with me. I informed her of the problem with the Robe and the way the gentleman treated me. Angie presented herself with professionalism and understanding. She stated she could see the problem with the Robe and apologized for the way I was treated. I left the Robe and my phone number with her. When I returned to pick up the robe a week later I spoke with Wendy. She came at me ready to argue. She pulled out a measuring devise and starting measuring first one end and then the other all the while ranting about 1/16th of an inch but when I pointed out that she was not aligning both ends with the line on the Robe, she got mad and told me that she was not going to do it over again, she had already done that and that she would give me my money back. I told her I could see were she had done just that. You could see the holes in the material where she tried to replace the stitches in the same holes but it was out of alignment. She had increased the size of the letters to try to cover it up. I told her, it was not a matter of getting my money back. I told her how much the Robe meant to me and I just wanted it done right. I explained to her that I had paid a lot of money for the Robe and she snapped at me that she was not going to do it over and she was not going to replace the Robe. She and I both knew that there was no way to fix the Robe. If the stitches were taken out the holes left were permanent. So, if you don’t want to have your “Special Day” ruined I would suggest you take your embroidery needs elsewhere.
