I needed multiple grafts along my upper front teeth for a long history of receding gums. Many years ago, I had one gum graft done on a canine tooth for recession at which time a hard palate graft was used. Using the hard palate as a graft source is more uncomfortable post-op than the graft surgical site itself. Because I needed several teeth done this time, I wanted to find a periodontist that used the synthetic grafting material Alloderm, which is used for tissue instead of the hard palate.

I researched periodontists in Albuquerque on the web and found that this practice, Albuquerque Implant & Periodontal, was familiar with the Alloderm grafting material. I arranged for a consultation visit with Dr. Micharl Sparks and was impressed not only with the ambience of the office, but also with the professionalism of the staff. Dr. Sparks took digital photos of my teeth and then reviewed what needed to be done on the computer screen. The pre and post op instruction sheets were complete and I had 10 teeth done all at once under IV sedation.

I never needed a pain pill post op and the recovery was easy. After a liquid (milkshakes, soups, etc) for 1-2 days, I was able to eat soft foods. Stitches came out after 10-14 days.

Now, after almost 2 month post-op, I have lots of new, pink gum tissue across my front teeth and am able to bite into anything.

I would recommend this practice and Dr. Sparks highly for anyone needing this type of dental work.
