The Chaparral Elementary School offers classes from grades kindergarten through five and is located in Albuquerque, N.M. It consists of various departments, such as administration, counseling, special education, physical therapy, mental health, music, technology, speech and language, library and instructional development departments. The school also operates an afterday school program and a preschool intervention program to serve needs of students identified as developmentally disabled. Its technology goal team helps in fundraising and utilizes the money for the school Web site, staff Web pages, and supplies for computers and printers. The Chaparral Elementary School also organizes activities that include spelling bee, cookie dough, picture day, parent meeting and a star party.
