I have been going to Essence for 3 years, and have been completely satisfied. They will ask if you want add-ons, but if you don't, they understand this, and do not hound you. The quality of work is excellent, the place is clean, they pay attention to their customers, and I have never experienced anyone having a bad encounter with any of the technicians. I have gone to several other places in Albuquerque, and will continue going to Essence. My husband goes with me, as well, for pedicures, and he has been very happy with the service he gets.

This salon runs a scam! I have taken my daughter and her cousins here twice as a treat on special occasions because they have child sized pedicure chairs, which they love. The first time they painted all of the girls' finger nails without asking when we asked for pedicures and then charged us. I assumed it was a misunderstanding and paid the the extra $5 or so for each of the girls. This time I went we clearly asked for just a pedicure, because of the mix-up last time.. The lady doing my daughters nails later asked her if she wanted her finger nails painted and I again said " No, not today, just the toes". Despite this she painted my daughter's finger nails and the other gals painted my nieces finger nails without even asking their Mom. When I went to pay they AGAIN charged me for her finger nails. When I said I didn't ask for it, the lady argued saying that I said yes when everyone around me heard me say no. I disputed a bit with them but they weren't accommodating. In fact, they used the argument that she painted flowers on her nails even though this was another detail I did NOT ask for (not that we would complain about getting free flowers). I'm not one to make a scene so I paid the $5 extra but I will NEVER return to this salon as I refuse to be scammed like this. Even if they weren't so shady, their work is average at best.

essence nails and spa is a great place to go to. every body serve you with a smile. sure some times they talk in a language you dont know. but they are just trying to make sure they did your nails right, not talkng bad about you or laughing at you. the pdicures are just so relaxing, they include massages and a great massaging chair. the charges are at a reasonable price. it is a great place for relaxation. some time t is busy, but it because they do such a good joob that people want more. try it out!!!!!!!!

My daughter and I go here for mani/ pedis and love the extra attention we get with comfortable massaging seats and foot massages included. Their work is excellent and definitely worth the drive from the UNM area!

I cannot believe how UNPROFESSIONAL this place can be! It looks great from the outside, but I was so surprised how GROSS it was inside. I came in for a pedicure, and I was hounded by the woman who owned it and asked if I wanted any add-ons, but I didn t want any, nor could I afford their charges. The women and men who worked there proceeded to speak in their language which sounded like they were talking about me and glared at me LAUGHING! They cut my skin and nail too close, and now my big toe is constantly in pain because of an infection their pedicure caused me. I need to get it checked out now after reading the other review that she had FUNGUS problems after this place. I wished I had read all the reviews and did my research before comign to Essence Spa & Nails, but I thought from the outside it looked classy. Looks can be deceiving, as their service and quality LACKS CLASS!!
