As a foodie, I'm always looking for a new good restaurant. Unfortunately, Asia Nine isn't it. The sushi was fairly middle of the road. The problem for them is, in northern Virginia there are several sushi restaurants at this price that have first class offerings. For me yellowtail is a good choice to measure the caliber of a restaurant. Good quality yellowtail is buttery smooth, mild flavor, and nearly pure white. Asia Nine's was firm, almost sinewy, and lacking in flavor. Other sushi we had (Kappa Maki (Cucumber Roll), California Roll, and spicy tuna roll) were better but didn't have the fresh flavor that stands out and says, "This is a great restaurant." We also had the tempura. Perhaps the worst I've ever had. Tempura should have a light, crisp batter with the freshest vegetables and meat. The batter on the Asia Nine tempura was heavy, tough, and oily. It reminded me of day-old fried chicken crust. And they didn't serve it with a tentsuyu sauce - more like straight soy sauce.
