Academy of Managed Care Pharmacy is a national professional association of pharmacists and other health care practitioners that promote the development and application of pharmaceutical care, in order to ensure appropriate health care outcomes for all individuals. The academy, located in Alexandria, Va., has more than 4,800 members who provide comprehensive coverage nationally to over 200 million Americans served by managed care. Academy of Managed Care Pharmacy was founded in 1989 and is a charter member of the Council on Credentialing in Pharmacy. It is funded primarily through membership dues, grants from pharmaceutical industry manufacturers and the Foundation for Managed Care Pharmacy, and income from conferences and educational programs.
