Dr. Khalifeh has a unique perspective on patient care and treatment, having first been a critical care nurse before taking on the challenge of graduating from one of the most demanding surgical schools in the nation while also getting married and having two children. She earned her BS in Nursing from Boston College, her MS in Nursing from Georgetown, and her MD from Johns Hopkins University. She completed her Fellowship in Colon and Rectal Surgery at Washington Center Hospital in the Summer of 2012, and joined Fairfax Colon and Rectal Surgery in the Fall of 2012. Dr. Khalifeh has been published in professional journals including Current Problems In Surgery, Archives of Surgery, and Journal of Critical Care. She has presented papers at conferences including the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons, the Washington Hospital Center Pelvic Floor Conference, the Chesapeake Colorectal Society, and the American Medical Association. Dr. Khalifeh specializes in rectal cancer and pelvic floor surgery, and takes special interest in patient education, critical thinking in patient care, and multi-disciplinary care of cancer & pelvic floor disorders. Her husband is a local plastic surgeon, and together they spend their leisure time enjoying a variety of activities with their two young daughters.
