These people have to be paying the "happy people" for their 5 star rating and charging other non-expecting people for it. This place is a joke ... snooty uncaring customer service people (MOLLY) and the guy bumming a cigarette while she was speaking with me I am pretty sure was another one of their lovely semi-uneducated half moron half twit customer service jug-heads they hire to answer phones. good luck not getting shafted even if they are one of the biggest companies in NOVA.... <<< probably funded by illegal drugs ..... watch out people

My heating went out on a Saturday night. I filled out a service request online, and received a phone call about 10 minutes later. I was impressed! I scheduled a visit from 1000-1400 the next day, Sunday. The first technician that came out, Greg, was absolutely awesome. He saw that he couldn't fix the problem, since I have a system that is specialized, and he called another technician to come out from 1200-1600.

The next technician came out, and priced the part that was damaged, and said that I should have it fixed by Monday, and if the weather was too much, then on Tuesday. He also said that he would call me. This is when things started to go wrong. I received no phone call, on either day. I called him twice, and was unable to leave a voicemail, because his mailbox was full.

I called the office Wednesday morning, at 1015. I was told that someone from the parts warehouse would give me a call back to schedule the install service. No one called. I called the office back at 1730, and of course the warehouse closed at 1700. I was told by the agent that I should call back at 0700, even though he was going to put an emergency call marker on my file.

I called this morning at 0703, to insure that someone was going to be in, and finally was able to schedule an install from 1000-1400. The person I spoke with, didn't have any other information to tell me, other than the parts warehouse said they didn't have the part, but when someone actually went over to check, the part was there and waiting. The technician I had this morning, was awesome, and I have heat again, just in time for some more record cold temperatures.

I appreciate the personnel that were polite and helpful, but I will never use them for anything else, unless absolutely necessary.

Had an electrical crisis and, because of their commercial jingle ingrained in my head, I figured why not give them a try. The technician was professional and swift, getting the job done in record time. And like some of the reviewers before me, I was shocked that the prices was five times as high as the normal hourly rate for electric work. But also like the reviewers before me, I did not do my research. Michael & Sons charges by the job, not by the hour. This can work in your favor, or against you, depending on the job. Long story short, I called their customer support and explained that an honest business operation would not follow through with such a charge, and they cut it in half. It still would have been cheaper to go with an hourly operation, but I can only tip my hat to Michael & Sons for their effective service and customer service (Thanks Campbell and Darlene).

Learn from my mistake. DON'T have service done on the spot. Do your research!!! OVER PRICE is putting it lightly. Charged me $700 for 20 minutes worth of service that should have cost NO MORE, if that of, $200. Charged between $110 and $197 for parts that are only $23 to $30. I am mad with myself, thinking I had to get the work done ASAP, had I researched what he said was the problem, I would not have had to put off paying some of my monthly bills.

I'm adding the same review I posted to another rating website. I feel that it's important to be informed and I hope that this review will save someone from the experience we had with them! _____ OVERPRICED is an UNDERSTATEMENT!!!!!!! What they did is complete robbery! I'm only giving them 1 star because you have to. This company took advantage of my elderly grandmother and her caretaker while doing a very routine repair. We researched the parts that they installed and they charged - $225 for a $20 part and $158 for a $15 part! I was totally shocked! They also charged $89 for the Diagnostic. They were only there for a total of 1 1/2 hours and the entire job came to nearly $500 when it should have been closer to $150 to $200 for comparable services. If they address this matter with my family properly and charge them the way that they should have, I will adjust my review because I appreciate good customer service. Right now they have spoken to the supervisor and he's stated that they are in the right with their fees, which we all know to be false! I feel really sad for people that try to take advantage of women and would never support their business again! Don't do business with shady people, no matter how good the results. Find someone else that will be honest and fair with you in the hopes of retaining your business - that's the way it should be. shame on Michael & Son Services.

I don't know how this company grew to be so big. Oh, yes I know, they charge $30 to come to your house, $182 to troubleshoot and then they would give you the price to fix the problem. So they charge you basically $212 before they conduct any work and this is not against the cost of the work. So if I call them thieves, I would underestimate them. They are worse than that. Save your money can find a decent contractor.

The only reason this company is in business is because of their commercials on TV. They are the worse thieves in Northern Virginia. I had some simple electrical problem. The electrician showed up to say that he would charge me. $182 just to check what the problem is. And this is not including the repair cost. For just a short circuit I think this would cost me over a thousand dollars with them. I just rejected their service and would never use them in my life.

Came on time, received curteous follow-up calls before and after the work. Work was done quickly and the tech seemed skilled. Absolutely recommend. Plumbing prices seems a little high but you get what you pay for as they guarantee they work. Electric work seems to be in line or below competition (they do electric as well though through different techs.)

Great Service

Most folks can appreciate the difficulty in finding a good plumber without any references to go off of. A search of yellowpages.com yielded a hefty list. We cross-checked a few in our area against the Better Business Bureau and settled on Michaels & Sons. We called late on a Tuesday afternoon and were able to get a service call scheduled for Thursday. The technician they sent us was polite, courteous and professional. He made quick work of our leaky shower.



The only thing keeping Michael & Sons from getting 5 stars was that we had to accept a 4 hour service window for when the technician would arrive and that the price seemed a little steep.



Overall, we were quite satisified with their work. We will definitely call them again for future needs and would gladly recommend them to friends.
