Founded in 1972, Pinnacle College (formerly Sound Master Recording Engineer School) is the first school of its kind in California. The college is accredited by the nationally recognized Accrediting Council for Continuing Education & Training (ACCET). Pinnacle College courses offer small classes and hands-on experience with cutting-edge technology. The curriculum balances academic lectures and practical workshops in the college’s on-campus studios. Academic tracks include a Music Production Recording Arts AAS Degree program, Video Game Sound Design Certificate program and Pro Tools Certification. Professional-level instruction puts students on the path to a career in music and sound such as audio engineer, live sound engineer, sound designer, music producer, composer, audio post production, Foley and more. Pro Tools Certification Levels offered:

The Pro Tools Certification are offered at the following levels:

  • Pro Tools 101: Pro Tools 101 gives students a basic understanding of recording techniques, processes and equipment.
  • Pro Tools 110: Pro Tools 110 provides a more detailed look into Pro Tools and above and beyond Pro Tools 101.
  • Pro Tools 201: Level 201 covers core concepts and skills needed to operate Pro Tools in a professional studio envioronment.
  • Pro Tools 210M: Pro Tools 210M goes over techniques for working with Pro Tools systems in a professinal music production enviorenment. Concepts learned in Pro Tools 101, 110, and 201 are reinforced with practical music specific examples.

Music Production Recording Arts AAS Degree Program 

The Music Production - Recording Arts associate degree program is designed for students with passion for modern music making. It is essential for those who want to play leading roles in the music and entertainment industries. Focusing on music production, the program is modeled after industry-standard tasks, jobs and trends. Students gain a thorough understanding of formal recording techniques through hands-on experience with cutting-edge production tools.

Students attain a wide variety of skills, building a strong foundation and the practical ability needed to engage in all areas of the modern-day producer: record, compose, arrange, mix and market professional music and sound, on their own, or in collaboration with others. They learn to record, produce and compose sound and music for commercial projects such as recording artists, music for film media and video games, electronic music and remixing, sound design and much more. Through innovative learning modules, students take on tasks and projects that build a professional portfolio that not only showcases their talents, but also helps them land a great first job.
