Provided by YP.comI am a current junior at SUA pursuing a degree in BA Liberal Arts. Prior to declaring my concentration in Humanities and even afterwards, I've taken many classes related to concentrations other than humanities. This continues to be, for me, a truly enriching experience since I prefer learning over specialization. Since SUA receives no federal assistance and is instead run on donations received by benefactors, it has the freedom to structure its curriculum on the learner centered approach that is the guiding principle of Soka education.
Other than academics, students are encouraged to take classes in creative arts such as visual arts, ceramics, music and dance. The new Performing arts center recently inaugurated on campus has 5 dressing rooms, a dance studio and two rehearsal rooms for student performers. These creative classes start all the way from beginner to advanced levels.
The foreign language program at SUA is I believe, an effective means of understanding foreign cultures. Juniors are required to study abroad in a country that speaks the language of their choice at SUA for a semester. There are four language offerings at SUA- Chinese, Japanese, Spanish and French. Although, it is required of every student to choose a concentration to graduate with in their senior year, they can, if they wish do a double concentration that shall go on their transcript.
Career options post-SUA are diverse. The four concentrations viz Humanities, Social and behavioral sciences, Environmental science and International relations open up a wide field of careers and higher study options to SUA graduates in BA liberal arts.

Provided by YP.comI really love this school. The campus is beautiful and a great place to study, but what I love most are the people and faculty. The professors here are really open and easy to talk to. I don't feel intimidated to go to their office hours to talk about my essays. The friends I made here are incredible as well. They're full of so many different experiences, and just by talking to them, I am able to gain new perspectives. My experience here has been very eye-opening.

Provided by YP.comSoka is a small university, and stuedents are like family. We have students from 32 countries and we explore different cultures. A Soka life is not easy, we study a lot and struggle a lot. However that challenging life really nurtures me. This is the most enjoyable place in the world!

Provided by YP.comMy name is David Smith, and I am a student at Soka University of America, in Aliso Viejo, CA. I was raised in Los Angeles and was comitted to going to UCLA, when a friend of mine brought me to see the SUA campus. I fell in love with the university, and knew that was the only school I wanted to go to. I felt in tune with their ideals of global peace and environmental harmony, and I really liked the students I met there, who were from across the country and the world. In the end, it was the only school for which I applied. Today, I have no regrets. I feel that SUA has not only given me a degree, but a rich understanding of human potential and creativity. I believe that education is the first step to an enlightened future, and Soka University of America is an ideal place to make that step.

Provided by YP.comThere are students from 30 countries here at SUA. SUA is a very beautiful University which opened in 2001. The food at SUA is very good. Dormitory life gives me a good opportunity to build friendships. There is a 24 hour study room, where students can study anytime they want to. Every student is required to study abroad in their Junior year for one semester. SUA also has so many events, such as the Student Festival, the Haunted House, the International Festival, and many more.

Provided by YP.comSoka University is one of the most beautiful small private liberal arts colleges you'll ever see. Great curriculum too -- every student gets to study abroad, which is included in the tuition! www.soka.edu
