THIS IS A RESPONE TO USERPERSON FROM 5/13/2011.



THERE ARE TWO CAMPGROUNDS ON SWAN LAKE. I BELIEVE YOU WENT TO THE WRONG CAMPGROUND. GILES CAMPGROUND DOES NOT HAVE A RUSTED SWINGSET, AS THEIR ARE WOODEN AND IT IS NOT ON A STEEP HILL IT IS LOCATED RIGHT BY THE BEACH. GILES CAMPGROUND CO-MANAGERS WHO TAKE CARE OF THE OFFICE AND ANSWERS THE PHONE ARE FEMALE, SO IF YOU SPOKE TO A MALE MANAGER THIS WOULD HAVE BEEN THE OTHER CAMPGROUND ON SWAN LAKE. THE CO-MANAGERS AT GILES ARE POLITE AND VERY HELPFUL. GILES DOES HAVE A CANCELLATION FEE, THE FEE IS ONE NIGHT STAY IF THE CANCELLATION IS LESS THAN 24 HOURS NOTICE. YOU WOULD HAVE BEEN INFORMED OF THIS CANCELLATION FEE WHEN YOU MADE YOUR RESERVATION.

AM SORRY TO HEAR THAT YOU HAD A BAD EXPERIENCE BUT I THINK IF YOU CHECK OUT GILES CAMPGROUND ON 44TH STREET YOU WILL FIND IT IS NOT A HORRIBLE CAMPGROUND BUT A NICE PLACE TO STAY AND EVERYONE THERE IS REAL FRIENDLY AND POLITE.

We stayed over Memorial Day weekend 2011 at two rental sites with our pop up and another tent at an adjacent site. The managers were very nice to me in our many phone calls and in person. I tried to think of anything like what the other reviewer experienced below, and I couldn't. The only wierd thing was that they wanted me to pay $5 a day to tie my rowboat up to a dock that was underwater due to high lake levels and they didn't want me to beach it either - so I just tied it up to another dock and they didn't say anything (sorry if you read this mgmt, I just didn't think it was fair to charge me for that). The main clientele is seasonal, so the managers do make sure that everyone follows the rules, and having been at campgrounds that don't - I can really appreciate that. The management was always friendly regardless. Because this is a mostly seasonal campground, the bathrooms hardly get used and they are kept very clean to boot. The clubhouse is very nice and out young son enjoyed it very much with all the games, etc. The grounds were very well kept with trimmed grass and flowers everywhere. The beach was clean and lots of people were swimming. The lake is beautiful and the fishing was excellent. The campground only has like ~50 sites, so you never feel like the place is too busy. We have already booked our next trip!

I wish I didnt have to give this place even one star. Absolutely horrible campground. We drove four hours to this dump because the photos online looked very nice but when we got there we circled the campground once before deciding to stay at a hotel instead. The "swimming area" was over grown with lilly pads and weeds, the children's play area was a rusted swingset on top of a steep hill and our truck windows had at least 5 hornets on them before we could make it to exit driveway.



And to make everything even worse, when we called to cancel, the manager charged our credit card for a full two out of the three day stay even though no where in any aggrement was there a notice of a cancellation fee. He was rude and insulting and kept referring to us as "city folk" lol.



Do not stay here!

We stayed here over the fourth of July weekend. We couldn't even enjoy the beach because they didn't clean up the goose poop that was everywhere on the beach and the lake water was very dirty. People were nice but campsites were very close together and hard to get in alot of sites a couple that was near us couldn't even put their awning out because of a tree in the way, would not ever go there again. Pictures online make it look nicer than it really is.
