Western Federal Credit Union is a financial institution offering a line of financial services including loans, savings accounts and credit cards to members who share a common bond in employment, residence or association. Along with the Hawthorne, Calif., branch the credit union also operates locations in Arizona, Arkansas, Colorado, Texas, Utah, Virginia, Washington and other cities in California. Membership is also open to family members and roommates of existing members. Western Federal Credit Union participates in a shared branch arrangement with the CU Service Centers Network. This arrangement allows members to conduct some transactions, such as withdrawing and depositing cash, from other affiliated credit unions. Western Federal Credit Union was founded by the employees of Western Airlines in 1948, and was called Westernaire Federal Credit Union. Various mergers have taken place bringing in additional credit unions and organizations.
