When meeting a new patient, I seek to establish a trusting relationship in which I am given the privilege and great responsibility of caring for them. This relationship is meaningful to me; I treat patients like I would my own family. To support this, I have sought the most comprehensive training and education from top centers around the world and have worked tirelessly so that I can bring my patients the most evidenced-based, modern and effective treatment methods. All decisions are made together - we are a team! I am a dual-fellowship trained orthopedic surgeon with specialty concentrations in hand and upper extremity (collarbone to finger) surgery as well as trauma and microvascular surgery and have a previous background in biomedical engineering. This combination gives me the ability to treat everything from the most common to the most complex injuries and ailments. My practice is dedicated to patients with nerve compression and injuries, fractures, arthritis, tendon disorders, sports-related injuries, congenital deformities, wounds, tumors and microvascular issues. I serve adults as well as children of all ages. I earned my medical degree at the State University of New York at Buffalo School of Medicine, completed an internship and residency (in orthopedic surgery) at Brown University - Rhode Island Hospital and fellowships at Washington University in St. Louis - Barnes Jewish Hospital (Hand and Microsurgery) and Brown University - Rhode Island Hospital (Trauma). Providing excellent care requires that I be up to speed on the most updated forms of treatment through involvement in the American Society for Surgery of the Hand, American Association for Hand Surgery, American Orthopaedic Association, and American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. I serve on multiple committees and teach courses at their meetings to students and other hand surgeons. Furthermore, I have a passion and have garnered many awards for teaching and research. I am continuing this by helping with the St. Luke’s Orthopedic Surgery Residency Program and furthering our understanding of hand surgery through clinical and basic science studies. Above and beyond my work at St. Luke’s, I also volunteer with the Guatemala Healing Hands Foundation by traveling regularly to educate local surgeons and therapists, perform pediatric hand surgery on those who do not have access to a hand surgeon, and develop the community of Chichoy Alto. I grew up in Commack, NY (on Long Island) and have settled in the Lehigh Valley close to my wife’s family with our pet labradoodle. We met at Duke University and love the school, so I will happily discuss/debate college and professional sports with my patients! We are on a mission to seek out the best places to eat, hike and travel.
