Long time patient is very disappointed

I had been a patient of AWS for 6 years and had a fantastic experience. Until I got pregnant. I called to make my first prenatal appointment and discussed with the office manager, at length, my financial situation. I was self employed at the time and had discontinued COBRA a few months back so I had no insurance. She gave me a cash price and we went over at length the entire cost of seven months of prenatal care and although she couldn't quote me a price on the hospital charges because there were so many variables, she did ball park me. I was pleased with the amount of time she took with me and the detail and effort she put into answering my questions.



The day of the appointment comes and although I was an established patient, I felt rushed through the appointment. It was my first prenatal, I had questions and I felt like I was a speed bump in her day slowing her down, which was a total surprise to me. I loved Melanie Turco, I referred many people to her over the years. I'm very disappointed at this point.



To add insult to injury, when she handed me my fee paper, I saw that she charged me a level 4 visit! I work in a medical office, we rarely charge a level 4 visit unless the patient required much more of the doctor's time and effort than was scheduled. So, my $60 cash price turned into a &140 visit and when I spoke to the check out girl (which is what I do at my office) she just shrugged her shoulders and said that that was what Melanie had circled and that's what the charge is. At our office, if it's a cash/uninsured patient we automatically charge down a level (if it's a level 3, we'll charge them a level 2) and if the patient questions it, we go ask the provider if they will reduce the visit. I was appalled and hurt by the blatant lies and overall uncaring attitude. As I walked to the car I made the decision to never go back.

The office staff was good.During my Pregnancy, I never had any problems with appointments or reminders or billing. Medical assistant took very nice care.Doctor is very good. she answers all the questions patiently. Overall experience was good. would recommand her.
