Provided by YP.comI just received my new IR camera and have spent the weekend shooting the new world of IR. I have two previously IR converted cameras from another company but always had focus and exposure problems. The Nikon D7000 I purchased from you is amazingly sharp and calibrated to perfection. It’s refreshing to get the results I always wanted and could never quite achieve. Thanks for the attention to detail and not just the $$$.

Provided by YP.comI would like to say I know what sort of work Spencers does, but after a year of having my camera, they have still not shipped it. Every e-mail and call to Spencers remains unanswered. And from liking online, I see I am not the only VICTIM of Spencers Camera. Not to mention their F rating on the BBB.
This is a company that I can only say to avoid. Spencers Camera will take your camera and that is the last you will hear from them. I give them ZERO stars.

Provided by YP.comDon't, just don't.
If it wasn't for a stranger from the US who I encountered on a forum, I would be out the money paid for the conversion as well as my A100 + lens.
As has been heard in previous reviews (Insiderpages among others), he communicates well up to a point. In my case it was until I sent the camera. To make a rather long story short, I waited three weeks after tracking showed it had been received by Spencer, as repairs could take 'ten working days'. Right, he replied after a few days, saying 'Good news! We just received your camera! We expect to ship it tomorrow and will send tracking# then.' Okay..
I hear nothing for a few days and email again to ask. Nothing, email again after a few days more. After 1.5 weeks I get pre-shipping info from USPS, which shows electronical shipping info was provided, nothing else.
After that I email and I call (no reply, leave message on answering machine so that they can 'get right back to me').
I never heard from Spencer's again, but after this friendly person on a photography forum called them and actually got a reply ("We've been busy with training") and called them again the camera suddenly appeared, after two months of them having received it. The work was pretty good.

Provided by YP.comI strongly recommend considering another service for IR conversion.
I purchased a fairly high-end Nikon dSLR from Spencer's for purposes of a full-spectrum conversion. They initially delighted me with their quick turnaround of a week or so.
But I received the camera and, first of all, ti was clearly grey-market- it came in a foreign box. Fine, I thought; if it works, it works, and there wasn't any upfront assurance that the camera *wouldn't* be grey-market, so I figured I may as well use it.
...and all was well for a very short while- a week or so. For their fairly quick delivery and apparently decent workmanship, I award them one star!...
The camera stopped working after a couple hundred shots. There seemed to be shutter issues. I followed all manner of online fixes including magic menu combinations and firmware upgrades etc. Alas, nothing worked. So I contacted Spencer's and, to my delight, they said it'd be covered under their warranty and I should send it back. So I express shipped it back to them- at my own expense, of course.
Well that was about 2 months ago... and not a peep from Spencer's. They haven't returned my repeated messages. I am out more than $1500 and don't even have a lemon of a grey-market camera to play with.
I should add, I am very experienced with the Nikon dSLRs, this was my fifth, and I have ~35 cameras total, so this wasn't some newbie mistake on my part. They sent me a lemon and appear to be waiting just long enough for it to go out of warranty so that they're not responsible.
Avoid Spencer's... the same thing could happen to you. Perhaps they were reliable at some point in the past but they sure aren't now.
*Very* disappointed. This purchase was made for a time-sensitive project and I lost a lot of money on it.
