Alton Steel is a special quality steel mill that produces rounds, squares, billets and slabs for customers throughout the United States. The company is registered to QS-9000 by KEMA-Registered Quality. Alton Steel was founded in 2003 and is located in Alton, Ill. After purchasing the former Laclede Steel property in 2002, Alton Steel began production in September, 2003. As of March, 2005, the company produces more than 900 tons of steel per day. Purchase orders must be received three weeks prior to its customers intended ship week to allow scheduling of melt shop and 14' rolling mill.
