After living at this apartment complex for the last few years I would recommend against it. I know that sometimes circumstances prevent us from being too picky about where we live but the manager is a loose cannon to say the least. This complex has gone downhill pretty fast and it's happened within the last 2 years. There's only one maintenance guy (her son). He is overworked and probably underpaid and over stressed. The grounds are pretty tacky looking. It's just not being taken care of properly. Even if you are the nicest person there's a 99% probability that something will happen because she ends up chasing everyone off at some point. She's the only one working in the office so it's extremely difficult to sit down with her for anything. She's unable to keep anyone there to work with her because of her mood swings. I have heard so many horror stories involving her and previous tenants. I don't understand how she still has a job there. It is possible to be a respectful yet stern property manager (if you want to call her that) without being hateful and rude but it seems like she hasn't mastered the ability to do that.



So with all of that being said, I would definitely think long & hard before signing a lease here. Just know that even if you are the kindest of people and never cause problems you aren't safe from her irrational behavior.

I read the other review and I think we have very different standards. My husband is currently in training at the AFB and that's what brings us to Altus, as is the case with many of the residents here. We have been in three other apartments (of friends) in Apple Creek and all have had the same chronic maintenance issues that we have had, including:



Dishwashers Flooding

Washer/Dryers Breaking (or take 3 cycles to dry clothes)

Broken A/C

BUGS! Good Lord, there's bugs!

Peeling Flooring/DIRTY carpets (this doesn't seem horrible until you see it)

Clogged tub when we first moved in that took 3 visits from maintenance.



Additionally, all of the apartments I have been in are saturated by smoke smell.



The area is not ideal. Although Apple Creek is located across from a middle school, I was followed by an aggressive man when riding my bike through the nearby neighborhood and was completely uncomfortable in the area.



The staff is kind but inept. The workout facility exists but the A/C never worked (6 months) nor did any of the equipment.



If you are considering a furnished apartment, know that what they provide you will be inadequate, dirty and depressing (the level of depression varies by apartment).



Don't live here. Even if you think it's your only option. DON'T LIVE HERE. We thought it would be better than staying in a hotel for 6 months. We were so wrong.
