I have adopted from SPCA and have been very happy with my loving and lovable "mutt" and the people I met at Petsmart where I adopted my Cody were all volunteers and were very helpful. As far as I know most of the people at the shelter are volunteers so they probably are not willing to stay late. Plus to balance out the previous review from lizislisa, if I had to be at SPCA and see the shape the animals are in when they receive them I might not be a "People Person" either. Animals are seldom cruel people frequently are.

They *may* be animal friendly, but are definitely NOT people friendly. There hours are inconvenient for most working people and even though there is someone there, they will not work with you to try and adopt a pet. They may or may not answer the phone when you call. The bearded old man that apparently heads the place is an absolute jerk. If you show up 10 minutes before closing, they STILL WILL NOT let you look around unless you know specifically which pet you are looking for.
