SeaBear Smokehouse was founded in 1957 as Specialty Seefoods, and sold smoked wild salmon to local taverns in Anacortes, Wash. Today, the company ships seafood products, such as salmon fillets, ahi tuna steaks, prawns, crab, lobster, oysters, mussels, lobster pot pies, desserts and sauces to customers in all 50 states. SeaBear s founder, fisherman Tom Savidge, developed the company s patented Gold Seal pouch packaging system, which preserves salmon naturally and requires no refrigeration until it is opened, making it easy to ship. SeaBear Smokehouse, which takes its name from a Native American legend, remains headquartered in Anocortes.
