Education and Training
Dr. Maruko attended the University of Southern California, where she received her B.S. in Psychobiology. While at U.S.C. she held leadership positions in organizations such as the U.S.C. Helenes, a women's service organization, and Mortor Board Inc. Upon graduation, she received the Order of Troy for unique and outstanding leadership.Dr. Maruko graduated from Harvard University in 1990 and received both a Doctoral Degree in Dentistry and a Master's degree in Public Health. While at Harvard, she concentrated her research in the area of birth defects and won the Grace Milliken award for outstanding research. Dr. Maruko continued her research at Northwestern University where she completed her specialty training in Orthodontics and received her Master's of Science Degree.
Professional Activities
Dr. Maruko is a member of a number of professional organizations including the American Association of Orthodontists, the American Dental Association, the Pacific Coast Society of Orthodontists, the California Dental Association, the Orange County Dental Society, the Academy for Orthodontic Excellence, the Orange County Women's Dental Society, and the she is very honored to be a member of the Orange County Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry. She has lectured on such topics as the role of orthodontics in cosmetic dentistry and orthodontic treatment in combination with jaw surgery.
In her spare time, she enjoys dance, photography, art, the outdoors, and animals.
