I was a patient of J.C. Cates for fifteen years until I turned sixty five years old at which time he told me that he wouldn't accept medicare and that I would have to pay totally out of pocket to see him. This was a complete reversal of what he had said to me about continuing as my doctor when I had asked him about that issue on numerous times. He flat out lied to me and purposely misled me up until the time I no longer had lucrative insurance to bill.



To top it off, he is likely a poor doctor. After being dropped by J.C. Cates and The Northwest Medical Clinic, I have not been able to find a doctor who accepts new medicare patients. Most only serve those who had been their patients before turning sixty five. As a result, when my prescription for treating my high blood pressure ran out I had to go to a local urgent care facility to get a prescription. Lo and behold, while I was getting a quick physical from the ANP who was seeing me, she found a large growth on my thyroid that has evidently been growing for years.



So, the guy outright lied to me and misrepresented his position for a number of years and he missed an obvious growth that a Nurse Practitioner found on my first visit. I personally recommend finding a different doctor than him.
