With an office in Anchorage, Alaska, the Regional District Attorneys Office works under the State of Alaska Department of Law. It is a member of the governor s cabinet and oversees more than 500 staff members who work for the law department. The attorney s office serves as the legal advisor for the governor and other state officers, prosecutes the violators of state criminal law, and enforces consumer protection and unfair trade practices law. The Regional District Attorneys Office also represents the state in a variety of civil lawsuits and administrative proceedings, as well as protects rate payers in proceedings before the Regulatory Commission of Alaska (RCA), which is a state agency that regulates utilities.
