Established in 1966, Southwood Middle School is a public urban middle school and is located in Anderson, S.C. It is fully approved by the Southern Association for Colleges and Schools. The school offers classes from grades six through nine. It offers a variety of academic programs in language arts, mathematics, sciences and social science. Its athletics department offers various sports activities, such as football, basketball, cheerleading and volleyball. Southwood Middle School also offers programs in health and physical education. The school provides a range of multicultural activities, and offers counseling and career programs to students. Its library offers various resources and materials to support the curriculum and overall development of students. The school has a parent-teacher association that increases awareness in curriculum for development of students through proper communication between home and school.
