The Potawatomi Inn and Conference Center is located in beautiful Pokagon State Park, on the shores of pristine Lake James, one of Indiana's largest lakes. Visitors will enjoy acres of outdoor recreational opportunities and all modern amenities. A historic structure, the Inn opened to the public in 1927. Many renovations and additions have added the modern conveniences that today's guests expect while preserving the historic importance of the Inn. The Inn features two restaurants. The Historic Dining Room is housed in the original historic section of the Inn and features a full menu and buffet service certain nights along with a bountiful Sunday Brunch. The Courtyard Cafe is a seasonal outlet that features quick service foods, our fresh baked pizza and ice cream. Guests can enjoy any one of the Inns many amenities including our craft room, where kids of all ages can create souvenirs to take home with them. Or if you are looking for a quiet place to read or do a puzzle in front of the fireplace, you can try the library or the Lonidow Lounge. Of course, the most popular amenity is the 1,600 acre Pokagon State Park with its miles of hiking and biking trails and not one, but two beaches. And don't think that we go dormant in the winter, from Thanksgiving weekend through the end of February the weekends come alive with the opening of the Toboggan Run which features two quarter mile refrigerated toboggan tracks that can reach speeds of 35 to 40 miles per hour! Come enjoy the Potawatomi Inn and Conference Center, Indiana's year round playground! The Potawatomi Inn and Conference Center is located in beautiful Pokagon State Park, on the shores of pristine Lake James, one of Indiana's largest lakes. First I want to say thank you to Darci and JoAnna at the help desk for their cordial and professional behavior. Next I would like to say our room was pretty comfortable. There was some housekeeping issues in the bathroom where someone had used baby powder or something prior to us getting the room and it was on the walls and the back side of the door. When the door is open all the way you wouldn't see the mess. The entire facility has so much potential to be more attractive with all the woodwork that is present. Much of the wood needs a good wipe down with some Old English, Lemon Pledge or some other restorative liquid or foam cleaner due to the dryness and faded look of the wood surfaces all over. It is sad to me that the people who are entrusted to keep this place well cared for are letting it go down hill. Hire someone to take care of this diamond in the rough. God knows you have plenty of business to afford to keep it up like it should be. The Nature Center was a cool visit and the Naturalists, workers, volunteers were friendly and very knowledgeable. I would like to visit again in the future and hope to see the INN shine. We only stayed one evening and left early the next day, but saw they had an outdoor pool and a lake with a beach which looked nice. The grounds looked like they kept them up. I would just suggest the small trees and large shrubs be removed from in front of the windows along the lake view where people like to sit and look out the windows. The lake would be a much better view than some of the little trees or bushes blocking it.
