I rented from North West Property. I followed every thing on the lease agreement so that way there would be no issues. Come to find out the unit I was in had BED BUGS!!! This was finally confirmed towards the end of the lease and they hired Riteway pest control to come spray. They guy that sprayed stated the chemical he was using wasn't guaranteed to work, so I decided to move out at the end of my lease and buy all new furniture. Then they tried to charge me 1/2 of the bug bill, and I pointed out that no where in the lease does it state he can do that. Then 30 days go by and still no deposit. Just so every one knows under Iowa code 562A.12 it states they have 30 days to return the deposit or else they forfeite the right to with hold any of the deposit. So I sued and won and they were stuck with the court costs as well. The entire court process took an additional 3 months before I finally got my money back from them. Definitely do not rent from these unprofessional people. Also the judge ruled they can not charge for the cost of spraying for any bugs because that is the cost of doing business. So long story short save your self time and money and rent from a different apartment complex.

While renting from Northwest Property, everything was fantastic. Our front door screen popped out twice so we called maintenance to fix it. Two years later we are denied on another apartment application because of a 'bad rental history' from Northwest property. I have photos after cleaning the apartment showing it was immaculate, they claim we left crumbs in the cupboard making the unit 'extremely dirty and flithy'. Be cautious of hanging ANYTHING. Although upon move in, we were told nails are allowed in the unit, hanging a singular photo in the kitchen is evidence of 'excessive nail holes'. They keep track of every maintenance call you make, adding it to your final report causing you to look very unreliable as a renter. We did not receive a notice within 30 days of move out in regards to the status of our deposit, it took them closer to 3 months. Shannon in the office always came off pretty rude but we brushed it off as to keep the peace. If you are considering renting from Northwest Property, I would proceed with EXTREME caution. Photo evidence is the one thing that can prove slander when it comes to their words against yours.
