Quality Quilting might be in an unexpected location (the industrial district off South State Street) but once you find it, you'll look for excuses to go back and visit again. It is a full-service quilt shop, offering drop-off for long arm quilting by Rhonda Loy, classes in hand and machine sewing, everything you need for "stitchery" and felted wool projects, plus (of course!) quilt fabric and patterns and notions -- oh my!



The main fabric types that are represented: 1800's "repros" that look like old-fashioned yard goods, nursery panels and other bright and pastel colors for kids of all ages, near-solid "blenders" that are essential to any quilter's "stash," zingy black & white, and batiks. There is a "Moda" section, featuring lovely, romantic fabrics by that manufacturer.



Quilt classes are reasonably priced. The store tries to stock all the notions one could want when attending these classes. Classes cover both hand and machine sewing methods. There are many crazy quilting and hand embroidery (including "red work") classes available. There are technique-oriented classes where the product is simply a quilt block. Repeat the process and you have an entire quilt. Make it as small or as large as you like. Some of the classes use a particular pattern for a quilt or tote bag or what have you.
