I've always had problems not getting numb after the anesthetic shots at the dentist office. They would give me up to 5 anesthesia injections but I'd only be partially numb. Most of the time, due to pain, dentists get frustrated and just go on with the teeth work and disregard my pain. Dr. Joy worked with me to carefully study my case and administer the shots using a special technique which took a little longer but eventually worked!!! She also did her research and eventually explained to me that some people are rapid metabolizers of the anesthesia due to normal over active enzymes in the body that quickly break down the medication and I most likely fall into that category. She is very gentle and understanding and takes the time to really listen to you. Also, I've never had a problem with any of the work she's done on me ranging from cleanings, simple fillings, and root canals.
