USC Arcadia Hospital was founded in 1903 by the Women's Home Missionary Society of the Methodist Church. Having been founded in one of the busiest parts of the country, our full-service hospital has grown significantly in the last 100 years. We currently have 348 licensed beds, and treat more than 40,000 patients in the Emergency Department each year. We have spared no effort to provide our patients with the best care possible. Our facility is equipped to handle virtually every medical situation. Our services range from obstetrics to complex neurosurgery, and several of our departments have been recognized as Centers of Excellence.

This happens to be a hospital made for people that want morphine or other pain meds. Even if it doesn't process through kidneys or liver. They don't care, it's better- that way they can have one single nurse on each floor work double and sometimes triple shifts. This place is wonderful if you want nurse assisted suicide. They will give you medication until your heart stops, then act as though they reviving your loved one! They are even doing CPR and trying to give loved one a drug to reverse overdose patient! Don't trust this place! Go to Huntington Memorial in Pasadena. I would post the painful death my loved one went through, but out of respect I choose not too!

I had to give them a terrible review. My son was born at this place and it was a TERRIBLE experience.

They tried to force me to induce labor, they asked me to look for my own bar in some closet, the nurses hurt me and told me that what they were doing does not hurt, they pushed so I can have an epidural and c-section. And the cherry on top, the doctor that delivered my baby walked out on my, as she stated that she did not delivered baby with the mom standing up, and pretty much forced me to lay down. All this happened while nurses were laughing and being incredibly disrespectful outside of my room. NO COMPASSION and certainly, NO RESPECT!

If you are planning to have your baby the natural way, this is NOT the place for you. This is the most terrible place to have a child.

My mother had knee replacement...

My mother had knee replacement at age 91. The surgery itself went well (thanks to the doctor). Her care was ok for the first few days except that it was occasionally difficult getting the nurses to come timely. My wife stayed most of the day with my mom and she had to occasionally run out and get the nurse for medication, bed pan, etc when the nurses would not answer their cell phone. This was not during all shifts, but ti happened too often. The nurses themselves were nice and caring. If my mom could have stayed in the main hospital for her full treatment, I likely would not be writing this review.

But, on the 3rd day following surgery, she was transferred to the rehab center. This was a disaster! She was without pain medication for hours because as she was told that ;the computer system had not transferred her medicine information yet.; Well, why did they move her from the main hospital to the rehab center if the medical information was not going to be available when she would arrive there? You do NOT put a patient in a situation where they cannot get desperately needed pain medication because of a computer delay. You pick up the phone and get authorization! We are talking about serious, painful surgery that she had!

Further, my mom had asked for water when she arrived in Rehab. None was brought for over an hour!. When it was brought, there was no table next to the bed. My mom had to hold the glass with water in it on her lap until a nurse eventually showed up and brought a table so she could set down the glass.

This rehab center has started off being a very unpleasant experience for her. My mom has been a volunteer at this hospital for 31 years! One would think she would get service like a queen! We will see how the rest of her stay in rehab goes, but so far, my wife and I are very disappointed. My mom is upset with the room as well - very small and cramped in rehab.

There is no phone contact with the nurses as there is in the main hospital. You push a button and hope someone sees the light or hears the buzzer and comes. We will see how that works out during her stay. If things improve, I will edit this review. Right now, however, I am livid over the negligent lack of care my mom received upon the transfer to rehab.

By comparison, my wife had two hip replacements at Providence St. Joseph in Burbank in 2010. The surgeries were 3 months apart. Both experiences went very well and the hospital was great. I wish my mom could have had her knee replacement there. Providence - at least based upon what I have witnessed to this date - is so much more patient oriented.

One of the nurses at Methodist told my wife that she was responsible for 12 patients! That is unacceptable! They charge tens of thousands a night per patient and they cannot afford to add a couple of more nurses for each shift to provide adequate patient coverage?

My recommendation - if you have an option to use a hospital other than Methodist, you may want to consider it seriously! I know that I would not want to be a patient there after witnessing what my mom has experienced so far. I hope for her sake that conditions improve as she will be there for another 5 or so days.

As I said before, if things do improve, I will edit this review. In talking with her this morning, she actually did not have a bad night, and the nurses this morning were nice. She is off for her first therapy session. I will edit this review as her stay continues. I truly hope her experiences from here forward are better.
