Run, don't walk away from this group. Proceed with caution. Don't believe anything the website says. Unethical, lack integrity AND did a bad job.Nearly put me into chapter 11. When I started asking questions about why their budget had us $16,000 under budget and mine had us more than $300,000 over they stopped talking to me. When I asked how it was possible that they charged me more than 40% over the fee we agreed to without ever informing me that this line item was way over budget, the PRESIDENT OF THE COMPANY wrote back stating "it is clear we can not resolve your concerns. Sorry our relationship has to end on this note." I didn't even know if my concerns were valid because they refuse to answer my questions! Clearly my concerns were valid and they don't have enough back bone to say "sorry we screwed up". They claim the $80,000 overpayment they submitted to the bank and got paid for was for "out of scope services" but the contract clearly states that no out of scope services will be performed without a written estimate and signed consent. We were never told a single task they performed was "out of scope" AND when we requested time sheets to verify the billing statements we found out they charge by the hour but do not require their project managers to submit time sheets!!!! We were told "if they are working full time their hours just get divided amoung whatever projects they are working on." It is clear that Northstar does not hold themselves to the same standards the website claims they hold their contractors to. They would have never allowed a contractor to bill by the hour without submitting time sheets. They would never have allowed a contractor to bill for out of scope work without an estimate and prior authorization. They did a bad job and clearly don't stand behind their work. My job was never closed. I don't even have keys to my own building!!! If my electronic entry system ever fails, I have no way to get in. I have done everything I can to get them to simply sit with me and answer my questions and they won't even return my calls or respond to my e-mails. I have not threatened them in any way, I didn't ask for my money back, I have not yet filed any k ind of suit against them, I just wanted to know what went so wrong and why and they walked away - WITH MY KEYS!
