If I could give them a negative 5 stars review, I surely would.
First, ABC promised that a service professional would arrive between a 12:00 and 4:00PM service window. They called around 2:30PM to confirm that someone would arrive before 4PM and that they would call again 30-45 minutes prior to arrival. After waiting all afternoon, I finally called ABC at 4:30PM, 30 minutes past their promised timeframe, to see when the plumber would come. They told me that I was rescheduled for the next day. Next day: same story they told me that the employee called out sick and my appointment got rescheduled for two days later.
The ABC service person called first and arrived on time. He was courteous and professional. He looked at the leaky faucet and took photos. He then gave me 3 estimates: one for $971for a new faucet, one for $735 also for a new faucet and lastly one for $599 for the repair!
I then checked online to repair the leaky Garden faucet. I discovered the issue could be fixed with a $3.99 part. I did the repair myself and needed 10 minutes. It now works fine and does not leak.
How dare you, ABC to charge $59 for a service call! That is criminal. You are taking advantage of people and suggest unneeded work to be done. This is a Disgusting Business Practice.
Trust and believe that I will tell EVERYONE about your poor service and how your "un-professional" service. As to my relationship with ABC? Consider it done!!!
They forced me to actually pay a 59.00 service fee to come out and basically try to rob us. I hope that they will reimburse the $59

Provided by YP.comThese people price gouge, and have a method for trapping you into it. They charged me $59 to come out and look at my water heater, and then quoted a price of $357 to replace a thermocouple. I found out later the thermocouple sells for under $12 on amazon. The labor took 15 minutes, unscrewing the old one and screwing in the new one. When I called to complain, they offered to reduce the rip off to $200, which is still a rip-off.
Here's the problem: They quote you a price which is way too high (I'd say about 300% in my case). You can then say no and feel like a fool for paying them $59 for nothing. They get an easy $59. Or you can agree to the work, and feel like a fool for being overcharged. Either way, you are the fool.
The story continues. Three days later my water was only lukewarm, so I called them again to fix the problem under the 90 day warranty (which by the way they did not offer on their own -- I had to ask them for it). I was given an appointment time of 11 - 3. At 3:20, no plumber, so I called. Told he'd be there "within the hour". At 4:30, I received a call saying plumber "on his way." At 5:30, no plumber. At that point I told them to stay home. They wasted an entire day, for which they feel no need to refund my money.

Provided by YP.comI had Geoff come to do maintenance service on a furnace on Mon. 10/20/ 2014. Within 5 min. Not looking at a 5 yr old furnace unit, he was showing us way hi prices to replace parts of a fur mace. Did NOT KNOW how to turn OFF the furnace at the unit. Immediately stated 2 parts needed replaced for a total of $700.00. We were shocked. Stayed with him, said to vacuum area costs $250.00. Other companies normally vacuum after service. Paid $89.00 for call and told him to leave. I checked online for parts he said needed to be replace were from $ 8.00 to $50.00. A new motor costs $250.00 never call them. They will rip you off. I emailed Dateline and 20/20 to notify them of their rip- off fraud company

Provided by YP.comABC GROSSLY OVERCHARGES!!! ABC gouged my son for ~$4,500 for 7 hours work, Nearly $700 an hour for standard types of work including installing a disposal and electrical box, changing some switches and installing a CO2 monitor. These are higher rates that physicians specialists (surgeons, Neurologists, etc.) or experienced corporate lawyers. They are not even IBEW Union electricians -- they hire folks off the street and train them on the job, so they haven't got through a rigorous Union apprenticeship so you don't have any idea of their skills. AVOID ABC as there are too many other reputable electricians and plumbers that are Union trained and charge fair prices.

Provided by YP.comOur water heater was replaced by Jim H. today. He arrived promptly and explained problems with our old system. The corroded T&P valve was leaking and the entire system was in serious condition. Work was done on a Sunday based on a previous quote he which he accepted at no extra charge. Jim did a great job, very knowledgeable, answered all my questions, he even looked at my sump pump and water softener and offered good advice about how the units work together. He was professional, deliberate and careful about doing a great and safe installation for our family. We call ABC for all our plumbing needs.

Provided by YP.comIf I can give a negative score to ABC, I would. One star is way too high and I have terrible experience with this company. Put the story in short: my furnace works well since the winter starts in late 2016, ABC called me in January 2017 to schedule a "free" regular checking. Then the technician came to my home, checked the furnace, pulled out of the sensor and broke it!!! Then he told my husband the sensor is too old, it is fragile and falls apart when he pull it out to exam. The next thing he said is without the sensor , my furnace can't be turned on and can't work. The solution he gave is let him replace the old "broken" sensor at 369$. This is ridiculous : my furnace works perfectly before ABC technician comes, ABC suppose to send it technician to do the regular checking, not to make the problems!!!!
I called the company and was told that it is not its "experienced" technician's fault, the manager is willing to lower the price to 269$ and that's the best they can do. I google online and know that the common cost to replace a sensor is between 100 to 200$, let alone it is broken by ABC technician himself. I told them I am willing to pay 200$ as I don't want to take their part and service for free, but they should take some responsibility for breaking the old sensor. It may be an old sensor, but it WORKS FINE before ABC technician come to break it. The end? I finally paid 269$ for the replacement of sensor broken by ABC technician. I called a couple of shop in town, their services is about 180-220$, but they need one or more days to order the new sensor.
I share my experience here so people won't be fooled again by what they do. During the first time I used their service, ABC checked the water tank for me and cost and fee they proposed is round 1300$. I finally used Lowes to do the work at 700$. This time, the thing gets worse and this company goes further: they broke your equipment's part and charge you high price for the replacement and new part.

Provided by YP.comHad a heating problem. They came out, diagnosed it wrong, tried to charge me $900 for a $200 part. Tried telling me that the furnace was going to fail and needed to be replace for $3500. What they didn't know is that I was a HVAC tech by trade. Paid the $100 diagnostic and told them to leave my home. Total rip off and would never recommend them to anyone. Good luck if you choose them cuz they will try to sell you a new furnace!

Provided by YP.comThink twice about calling if you need service right away. My furnace went out last week during the coldest snap of the year. I called ABC and do have to say the woman I talked to was very nice and helpful. She even called dispatch to see how long I'd be waiting and did everything she could to give me a timetable of when the repairs would be done. That's where the good ends. I made the call around 6pm. Around 9 o'clock I got a phone call from the tech saying he was downtown and it may take an hour to get here. 10 o'clock nothing. I get it Chicago traffic. No biggie. 11 o'clock nothing. I call the tech back leave a voicemail asking for an eta and checking on what's going on. 12 o'clock nothing. Call the tech again leave another voicemail. I then call ABC not once not twice not even three time but four in a row someone answers the phone and hangs it right up. On the fifth attempt I reach a new woman and I tell her what has happened and she has no record of me calling and asks if I want someone dispatched to my house right away or in the morning. I say right away the house is getting very cold and I don't want my pipes to freeze. She says ok she'll have a tech call me. It's about 1 am I think at this point and I'm more than a little upset. 6am comes around and I've all but lost my mind and call another company. They say they're busy but give me an hour window of when they will come. 9am. 7:30am rolls around and now a dispatcher from ABC calls me. I can't remember how it went exactly but it was something along the lines of "we're now open and gonna send a tech over." I got mad started to yell a little then just laughed and said no thanks a real contractor will be here soon enough. Will never call here again and highly recommend you don't either!

Provided by YP.comHad a horrible experience. They totally tried to rip off a senior. I had a minor plumbing problem. Small piece broken on plastic toilet piece. Plumber said it would cost $389 -$800 to repair or replace toilet for $500 plus $500 to install. He took the parts because he didn't know if he could find replacements. After 3 unreturned phone calls I went to Home Depot and bought the part for $8 and a handyman installed it in 10 minutes. ABC was totally intending to rip off a senior citizen. Didn't even have the decency to return my calls or return my parts. Buyer BEWARE!

Provided by YP.comI signed up to a plan to maintain my furnaces (that they installed). while testing the humidifiers during routine checkup both humidifiers were left on the highest setting. I did not watch the service being performed but when . weeks later my humidity level on the second floor was 55% wood in the attic was completely wet which resulted in leakage and damage. This is when i saw both humidifiers were set at the highest setting. Horrible service. Empty promises. Terrible company. Don't work with them, they will rip you off.

Provided by YP.comI was comparing several HVAC companies and saw ABC had good ratings. So, I called and went with them. When I talked to one of the customer service she told me that their HVAC is $99. So, I thought what a great deal. I even went over the price with the customer service & clarify with her. She told me that each of my HVAC maintenance with coupon would be $60 & total of $120 for both. She even told me that there would be an email picture of the HVAC tech that would be sent to my email and I would get a call from the guy. My apmt was set from 9a-12p. Well what happened was that they never sent me an email pix like I was told or got a call from the HVAC guy. I literally had to call the company to make sure the HVAC guy was coming. Well the customer service was the one who called me after I talked to them. Then the HVAC guy Eric came out about 1 hour late. He didn't have the courtesy to ensure the pricing with me. Then I found out he was only 2 years experienced. Seeing him do my service I was sketchy that this HVAC technician was not at all good. So, I had to stop him to do my 2nd HVAC. Then when it came to charging me, he told me it would be $139 with $40 off would be $100. I had to call the company & complain about their false advertising to customer over the phone, and they gave me for $69 after I complained. If I had known what the exact price is, I would never have called for the service to be sent out to my house. Not only that, Eric tried to tell me that my humidification was not set up right and try to sell me to get my humidification fixed up for $357. Such a crock of lies this company is. I was intending to refer this company to several of my workers at work, but I am glad I see the bad experience & will never use them again! Or recommend this company to any of my friends.

He gave us a better understanding of our different options with the water heater, and even offered to come back another day to give us time to think. Ultimately, he installed our water heater the same day we called him . . . and even allowed time for me to clean the floor after the old water heater was removed to get rid of the gunk! He installed our heater in record time, and did it with a smile. We really like and trust ABC, and Mike G. is one of their greatest assets!

Provided by YP.comMy shutoff valve for the water main was leaking. This is a 3/4' valve that you can buy at Home Depot or Menards for $10-20, but requires the b-box to be shut off in the street to solder the new valve to the copper pipe. Needless to say I didnt want to mess with it so I called ABC. The guy who came was a nice guy, but when he gave me a price of $859 to replace a valve that would take an hour at the most I almost fell out of my chair. I've been in the trades for a long time and I feel sorry for people who get taken advantage by companies like this.

Provided by YP.comTheir service people are extremely polite and nice; however, their rates are about twice that of other service provides and every time they came to my house (5 times in all) they recommended some highly expensive service like replace my furnance, humidifier, hot water heater, A/C unit. Every time they came over it was a different recommendation. I would never use this company again.

Overall I am very happy with my experience and would recommend their services to others.
