Despite training in both General and Cosmetic Dentistry, Dr. April Kern’s philosophy is that all dentistry is Cosmetic Dentistry. Her goal is to enhance the value of each patient’s life by providing excellence in dental care. Dr. Kern attended the University of Pennsylvania where she received her Bachelor of Science in Economics from the prestigious Wharton School of Business in only three years. Prior to dentistry, she was a management consultant in London, England. Dr. Kern received her Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) from Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale Florida, where she was the only student in her class to be awarded the American Academy of Esthetic Dentistry Student Award of Merit. After dental school, Dr. Kern gained advanced training in dental implantololgy and cosmetic dentistry by completing a one year intensive General Practice Residency at Albert Einstein Medical Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Dr. Kern worked in private practice in New Jersey and New York for 5 years prior to joining Virginia Dental Center in February of 2015. Dr. Kern is affiliated with the American Dental Association, the Northern Virginia Dental Society, the Academy of General Dentistry, the American Academy of Esthetic Dentistry, the Academy of Laser Dentistry, and the American Academy of Women Dentists. When Dr. Kern is not practicing her passion of dentistry she enjoys yoga, pilates, barre classes, and spending time with her daughter.
