I will never visit this store again! I took my 81 year old father in law in there on Labor Day, 09/07/15, in the early evening to get his dog some dog food because he is recovering from cancer and just wrecked his new truck and can't drive it. He starting cutting up with the cashier telling her to shut up in a playful way. She then said "Don't tell me to shut up, that's not even right." "I don't make enough money to put up with that." She then began to sling his cans of dog food in the bag showing anger. He thought her comments were playful back to begin with, but then seen that she was taking everything he said as an insult. My husband was standing there also and told his daddy to come on and he said no, he was going to go ahead and pay for this. Before this transaction, my husband tried to buy a pack of cigarettes with no id, she then asked my father in law if he was going to get them for him and my husband told her that I would get them. I thought that was against policy to allow someone else to purchase alcohol or cigarettes for someone else? When my father in law left the store, she apologized to me, not knowing that we were together. That comment told me that she thought he was being offensive, and he reminded her that he cuts up with the other girls in there. I was very shocked at her behavior, being in the retail industry all of my life, I would have been fired on the spot if I ever thought about treating people, much less elderly people, in that manner. I have been yelled at plenty, but you are supposed to be trained to handle yourself, in front of others especially in a professional manner. To beat it all, we got to the car and he said she didn't give him his $10.00 in change back. We walked back in and explained what had happened. She called the manager on duty. She then began to count the drawer down. The whole time my father in law was apologizing to the cashier if he made her mad. She just looked at him briefly and turned away. She had a terrible attitude. I wanted to say so much to her, but it just didn't come out. I think I was just in shock. My father in law then told the manager that he knew he was right about her not giving him his $10.00 to him and she then, In not a nice tone told him that she didn't say she thought he was lying, it's just something they have to do. Never once was an apology sent his way for his inconvenience. There are many different people in the world and my father in law is just a simple, country man that explains himself the only way he knows how, and cuts up in a country kinda way, and the employees need to get a job that doesn't require customer service with the kind of attitudes that I witnessed yesterday. When we took him home, he began to cry. He said the girl hurt his feelings. Shame on you! Both of you for handling a simple transaction in such a negative way! I hope no one ever mistreats your elderly family members in public like you did ours!
