Beware of this branch! I called Alas Cerritos this morning, inquiring about shipping costs for a jumbo box going to Luzon. $60 I was told. As my practice, I repeated what the guy just said, and he confirmed, yes, $60. So my husband and I drive there just before they closed, and SURPRISE! I was being charged $65! I told the clerk the above story, hoping that he would give me the price I was quoted over the phone (guess there was a different guy in the morning shift). No such luck. I went as far as to call the main office and spoke with "Marlon", naively assuming that escalating the issue would result in them correcting it. Again, no luck. Even after I told them that I'd be airing my bad experience online and that they will lose a lot more than the $10 they refused to eat (I had 2 boxes). I couldn't help but think that this - providing a lower price quote on the phone - is a ploy to get customers to come in, and then charged the higher price once they're there. After all, what are the chances of the customer schlepping a 100-lb box and re-loading it because of a $5 difference? Well, I refused to succumb to this seemingly "bait & switch" practice, and had my husband load the boxes back in the van.
