Provided by YP.comI am appalled as I am reading these reviews! I am an owner of a small business and don't have the patients for some of these people that can't seem to understand the difference between right and wrong. Why is it people don't want to take blame for their own actions anymore? Growing up, I was taught, if it's not yours you don't touch it! As for the items on the counter - once you claim them by putting them on the counter, they are yours! It doesn't matter if an item gets damaged or stolen. IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY!!!!!! They DO have baskets that you can put your items in, in case you didn't know!

Provided by YP.comUNPROFESSIONAL AND RUDE OWNER
Yesterday I was very disturbed by something that happened while i was in this store. I witness the owner herself being completely unprofessional and rude to a mother and her child. The owner berated the woman for her child playing in a box of plastic toys you would find at Walmart. The child was being quiet and calm and the owner stopped out asking whose child it was. The woman was about 20 feet away in another cubby looking at something. She stated that the child was hers. And that she was not doing anything wrong (which in my opinion she was not). She was quiet, out of the way and playing with cheep plastic. The owner proceeded to tell this woman she was not ok and that it was merchandise to purchase. And was she going to be buying it. The woman answered yes and the owner stomped off. The woman then asked her child to put it all away and they left with the child in tears that she could not have the box of toys.
I am appalled at how this woman was treated. And will never shop here again. I hope that other will follow suit.

Provided by YP.comI try to cut people a little slack - I've worked in customer service - but as I have been here many times, and especially after my most recent visit, I feel I need to try to let people know what they are in for if they go to Arundel Antiques. I've been to many antique shops and am a dealer myself. The staff are generally rather cold and always shoo you out early. The feel I've gotten in my many visits is that they are doing me a big favor by letting me spend my money there.
On my last visit I had a lot of merchandise on the counter to purchase as I shopped upstairs. Ringing things up is slow, so usually if you leave things at the counter, they enter items in the computer and wrap them so check out is faster. When I came downstairs to check out I was informed that because of the way I had put things on the counter an item had broken and I had to pay for it. I have no problem paying for item I break, but I am not paying for something that got broken when I wasn't even on that floor! When I spoke to the manager I was told a paper pattern had knocked it over. This seems very unlikely. When I refused to pay for the item I didn't break, she refused to let me buy any items. I had about $200 worth of items. As a dealer, I would be very upset if the manager wouldn't let a customer buy my stuff! There are some good items here, but with the number of other great group shops in the area, I would recommend going elsewhere.
