Provided by YP.comAfter suffering a catastrophic hand injury, I was fortunate to have Dr. James Thompson of Carolina Hand & Sports Medicine as my responding surgeon. This gentleman is everything a physician should be: skillful, vigilant and compassionate (and with a suitably dry and ironic sense of humor, I should note). After six months of treatment (including physical therapy at their office), I can say with certainty that my outcome is far better than if I had received treatment elsewhere.

Provided by YP.comI've experienced pain, tingling sensations and felt a decreased gripping so I decided to have it checked at Carolina Hand and Sports Medicine. The doctors did a fine job explaining to me my condition which turned out to be carpal tunnel syndrome due to impingement of the median nerve that passes under the wrist. They advised me to wear a device to rest my wrist, right wrist to be exact and also Physical Therapy for pain relief. After a few sessions, the pain was gone as well as the tingling sensations. Great job!

Provided by YP.comAwhile back, I thought I had a spur forming on my left thumb. At first it hurt a lot but then settled down. It kept growing, however, so I decided to seek medical attention. I saw Dr. Thornburg in one of Carolina Hand's satellite offices. After shooting an X-ray of the thumb, he was able to see that it was not a spur at all. He highly recommended surgery to take it off. I went over to the surgery suite in Asheville and was treated like a very special person. The care, attention and kindness was very evident. Dr. Thornburg did a marvelous job on my thumb. When he opened up the area, it turned out to be a giant cell tumor and it was wrapped down and around tendons, nerves, muscles and blood vessels. Dr. Thornburg did a remarkable job in getting that thing off of my thumb with no loss of use or feeling in the thumb. He was awesome. As a matter of fact, my daughter has a very messed up right shoulder and she will be seeing Dr. Thornburg for her shoulder. That's how much I respect and trust him. All I can say to the Carolina Hand practice is THANK YOU for accepting only the best of the best!

Provided by YP.comDr. Neimkin and Jeff worked on my crushed finger and was able to save the tip of my finger instead of removing it. They take great care of their patients. Sometimes the wait in the lobby is long but that is due to the Doctor taking time with each patient and answers any questions and explaining what is going on. I would recommend this office to anyone.
