Established in 1915, the Atascadero Fire Department is a public safety department that responds to a range of emergencies, such as structure and wild land fires, vehicle collisions, hazardous material incidents, technical rescues and public service assists. The fire department operates two fire stations with six fire engines, command vehicles and a technical rescue unit. It operates with more than 20 full-time and over 15 reserve firefighters. The Atascadero Fire Department has a fire chief, fire marshal, code enforcement officer and administrative assistants on its staff. It is located in Atascadero, Calif. The department offers a smoke detector program, a program where a firefighter from the Atascadero Fire Department visits the residence and installs a free smoke detector.
