Based in Athens, Ala., The Limestone County Engineering Department provides technical support and direction to the County Commission in all areas of public works construction and maintenance. The Limestone County Commission operates the functioning of the department. It prepares construction plans as needed for roadway, bridge and other public works projects. The Limestone County Engineering Department is responsible for ensuring compliance with state and federal mandated roadway and bridge inspection regulations, environmental regulations and other laws pertaining to the construction as well as maintenance of public improvements.
