Clarke Middle School, located in Athens, is a part of the Clarke County School District. The school serves students in grades six through eight. The school organizes several academic competitions, including academic bowl, math league, optimist oratorical competition, and spelling and geography bee. It also conducts field trips, assemblies, family engagement evenings and honors celebrations. The school offers various after-school programs. Founded in 1959, Clarke Middle School additionally provides band, chorus, art and technology programs. Its curriculum includes language arts, math, social studies and science. The school has teams in a variety of interscholastic athletics programs, including basketball, football, soccer, volleyball, baseball, softball, track, cross country, cheerleading, wrestling, and swimming and diving.
