This is one of our favorite places to visit in Athens!!! Very nice staff and nice ambiance. More mature crowd with great music/bands! The appetizers are awesome!!!! Dinners are a little pricey, but sophisticated and well plated....



We enjoy simply having a few appetizers and sitting outside on the nights when entertainment is avail.

MY FRIEND AND I DROVE TO ATHENS ON A SUNDAY NIGHT AND HAD DINNER AT HILLTOP. WHEN WE WALKED INTO THE RESTAURANT NO ONE WAS AT THE FRONT. WE STEPPED INTO THE BAR AND FOUND SOMEONE. I GUESS BECAUSE IT WAS SUNDAY NIGHT THE BAR WAS EMPTY. THERE WERE SEVERAL TABLES WITH PEOPLE IN THE MAIN DINNING ROOM. THEY PLACED US AT A NICE TABLE , WE THOUGHT. UNTIL THEY DECIDED TO DRAG A SCRUB PUCKET ON WHEELS WITH A MOP OUT OF THE KITCHEN AND THROUGH THE DINNING ROOM PAST OUR TABLE TO CLEAN THE FLOOR BEHIND US AND INTO THE BAR. AFTER CLEANING THE FLOOR THE SMELL OF CLEANING PRODUCTS

HIT THE AIR AROUND US. AFTER THE CLEANING GUY CLEANED THE FLOOR HE STEPPED OUT OF THE KITCHEN WITH OUR SALADS. MY FRIEND AND I JUST LOOKED AT EACH OTHER. I ORDERED THE CRAB BISQUE SOUP. IT WAS ABSOLUTELY UNEATABLE TO ME. I TOOK ONE TASTE AND SAID THAT I WAS NOT HAPPY WITH THE ORDER.. MY FRIEND TOOK A TASTE AND SAID THAT SHE COULD NOT EAT IT EITHER. SHE ORDED ANOTHER SOUP AND DID LIKE HER'S. THEY DID NOT TAKE THE SOUP OFF THE BILL AND ACTUALLY DID NOT CARE IF WE RETURNED IT OR NOT. NO ONE PERSON WAITED OUR TABLE AND NO ONE EVER ASKED US ABOUT OUR ORDERS. WE WERE VERY DISAPPOINTED WITH THE PRICES AND THE QUALITY. WHEN WE WERE LEAVING I DID TELL THE MANAGER ABOUT OUR COMPAINTS. SHE SAID THAT SHE WAS SORRY AND HOPED THAT WE WOULD RETURN AND THEY WOULD DO BETTER.

OFCOURSE WE ARE NOT PLANNING ANY TRIPS BACK. THEY SEEMED TO BE MORE INTERESTED IN CLEANING AND PROBABLY GOING HOME THAN THE CUSTOMERS THAT WERE STILL EATING.

The Hilltop Grille is a great meeting place. They have good food, but it is expensive for what you get. Our church has lunches there for leadership, etc. and the service is good, even with the large group. There is a lot of UGA memorabilia for sports fans. If you are looking for an above average place to take a group to dine, this is a good option.

FOOD: Not so good...the salmon was cold,dry, fishy and just bad. The whole meal left me unsatisfied. The sweet potatoes were pretty decent though.



SERVICE: Our waiter just acted like he had something more pressing to attend to. He hardly said a word to us, and just drop the food off and waited till we were ready to leave and dropped off the bill without even a smile and nod.



ATMOSPHERE: The outside of the place looks great. That was actually what attracted us to the place. However, the inside looked unfinished. It just lacked any sort of decor or style. Their was no intimacy about the place. Not very pleasant.
