See Tania's review--- a full-on bait and switch when closing the Bodyplex site for 'renovations'. I'd left for there to get away from Omni, then was forced to go back. Now they're forcing a $10 monthly upcharge and have never come clean with their Bodyplex expats. I had a feeling when they pulled that stunt--- only found out when a Halloween seasonal store set up shop in the 'reno' site. Shameful.

The Omni sent me to a COLLECTION AGENCY and did not try to contact me before they did so. My gym membership expired in February 2013. I received a letter from a collection agency in North Carolina dated 9/17/2014 because the Omni Club gave them my account. It said I owed an enhancement fee of $29.00 for 2014 (it was tacked onto a personal training agreement dated 6/18/2012 - I used my last training session 10/15/2012 - this is separate from my gym membership that expired in 2/2013). I paid in advance all of my contracts with the Omni and never did monthly billing.

The Omni has my current phone number, email address (on the contract I signed) and I have changed addresses, but mail is still forwarded to my new address (obviously since I received a collection letter for $129.00).

I have contacted the Omni Club to resolve this, but they cannot (will not) help me in Athens. The Manager (Curtis) won't return my calls nor will they give me the main contact information for the Corporate Office.

I have filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau.

Be very careful of what you sign. Check all the dates in all the small print on the contract whether it's a membership agreement, personal training agreement, etc.

I do not recommend the Omni Club to incoming students. I have been a long term member, and during this time the gym has declined in service and in being maintained. The bathroom tile is dirty with urine and toilet paper. The towel bin is always overflowing. The massage chairs are all partially broken or have been removed because they broke and did not get replaced. If you are lucky, you will get a TV that works on cardio machine, but don't count on it. Plenty of cardio machines are broken, turn off suddenly, or jam. I have also heard about sexual harrassment from the staff to clients, and even experienced this myself. The management is disrespectful personally and professionally, and they act superior even though you pay their salary. Stay away from the Athens mega gyms.

First off, I will say that the Omni is a very nice gym with great equipment and quality trainers. They also have an indoor Smoothie King which is great for after-workout nutrition.

HOWEVER, and that's a BIG however, the billing policies of this place are an absolute NIGHTMARE. I'll go ahead and explain my personal situation to the best of my abilities.

I have been at the University of Georgia for 4 and a half years and signed up for the Omni September 2013, and graduated December 2013. Now when I signed up for the $20/month year-long contract, I made SURE that it was possible to cancel my membership when I graduated without incurring fees. The representative assured me that was the case and it would be an easy process.

Bold-faced lie.

In order to successfully cancel your membership due to graduation, you need to show at least 3 of these: a copy of your diploma (which doesn't arrive until several months after graduation), a copy of a one way plane ticket, proof of residential change, a transcript, and several other incredibly hard to come by documents. Needless to say, I wasn't able to terminate my contract due to graduation...

The other absolutely deceitful billing policy that I just experienced took place after I got off the phone trying to cancel my membership. The financial representative explained to me that I am also required to pay a $60 "GYM IMPROVEMENT FEE"... After I asked about the charge, she simply said that the representative should have explained this to me when I signed up. He did not.

Needless to say, I'm stuck paying my membership fee along with the ridiculous gym improvement fee even though I've graduated and moved out of the city. The fact that the representatives assured me that canceling due to graduation would be an easy and painless experience is an absolute sham. So much for being nice to recent graduates...

In summary, the Omni has very nice facilities but I would only recommend signing up if you've got money to blow and to THOROUGHLY go over the contract if you decide to sign up.

Honestly, just stick to Ramsey (the UGA gym). It's one of the nicest gyms in the country and it's free if you're a student...

Longterm member and training c...

Longterm member and training client. My trainer, Leisa, just moved and I was quickly placed with a new person. The club is spotless, repaired and constantly updated. All staff is very helpful and totally professional. The club is very popular, for obvious reasons, and just opened a new location in Athens. The operator mentioned in the previous review, Don Allen, obviously knows his stuff, the club rocks and is perfectly run and the staff is extremely well trained. What did the reviewer expect him to do? Kick out a bunch of happy members so their spoiled little rear end could have everything to themselves?

All I can say right now is WOW!! Took the new PURE class at The Omni Club this morning & not only am I beyond impressed with the workout, instructors, and overall experience, I want to tell EVERYONE to go check this class out immediately! It's awesome. The gym itself is one of the best I've ever been to and the instructors were top notch. I would recommend this gym, class, everything about it to anyone in Athens or anyone visiting Athens. It's well worth your money and you won't be disappointed. Thanks Omni, for making my morning memorable & awesome!!!!

Leaving Athens after 8 years. I've been a member here for 5. I will miss the staff and instructors. The club is clean, well equipped and the classes are world class. Nothing negative except they are busy, but when you are good I guess you are popular too. Never overcrowded though.

I never do comments or surveys but I was moved to on this business. I came to superpages looking for a gym and decided to try The Omni. I was shocked at the incredibly high level of service, professionalism and facilities, especially in a small town. These guys have their act together. Low pressure sign up, I was introduced to the onsite billing assistant, the free new member helper, etc, etc. I don't see how this can possibly be matched anywhere, much less in Athens. Especially excited about the free aerobic classes, over 90 per week.

I joined 2 weeks ago. Used the free "New Member Coach: that assists you for the first 30 days free of charge. No other gym I shopped offered anything similar, they just sign you up and ignore you. Not the Omni. I also had a couple of questions about my billing and the full time on-site billing manager helped me promptly. Yet another service no one else seems to be willing or able to offer. Two thumbs up.

I used to be a member of this gym. It is excellent. I want to rejoin to see if this is a good place for me again. There are many critical reviews and so many thumbs down about them being not helpful that I am concerned that the club staff and owners are coming onto this site and writing good reviews and thumbing down the bad ones. I am a little wary of these.

Great gym in Athens Georgia. The fitness equipment and personal trainers are top notch. Joining process is simple and straight forward. I've never seen a gym use permanent laminated rate sheets. Definitely no games there. Plus they are expanding with a second club in Athens. I like to know my gym is stable and in a growth mode. Highly recommend.

I also researched the internet before visiting. I noticed there are a few negative posts, very few. I also noticed they seem a little contrived and a little too detailed in my opinion to not be a competitor. I decided to see for myself and I'm glad I did. The notion that anything else in a town the size of Athens even comes close is laughable. My visit to this gym was amazing. The Omni Club in Athens is a world class gym, far exceeding anything else around here. They were professional, easy to deal with and fun. I joined with Colin. The club is huge, luxurious, tons of equipment, Smoothie King plus it is spotless. I like the new yoga floor just installed. I joined on a month to month membership and was shown rates on a permanent laminated card. No games or trickery here. Very affordable considering what you get. Very happy and impressed. Looking forward to the new Omni on the eastside of Athens.

I've been a member at a couple of other gyms in Athens. Anyone trying to say this isn't flat out the best in every way is crazy. The reason I'm posting here is I checked out these reviews before I went in to join. I was a little wary. But I should have realized that other poster claiming "they had "10" friends check it out and find the same thing" was a fake poster, probably Omni's competitors.......come on do you have "10" friends that would drop everything they are doing to go fake shop a gym for you? I think not. Anyway, I went in the process and tour were simple, straight forward and I am a happy new member on a month to month membership. Clean, well repaired, new equipment and a second club opening in Athens. The idea that anything in Athens comes close is a joke, these guys are obviously professional. Huge club, country club luxury and tons of equipment (new dumbells), now that's my kind of gym. I will be encouraging my Omni member friends to post reviews.

The Omni Club is one of the nicest fitness facilities I have ever been to. They offer unique equipment and plenty of group fitness classes, plus they have an amazing group training program. I am an avid Fight Club member at The Omni Club and this class has really amped up my workout. The class is taught by certified personal trainers and every class focuses on different forms of martial arts. The group training classes were the perfect addition to my workout.

I'm a member of BodyPlex...so frustrating. I can't imagine Omni Club being worse than BodyPlex. If you are debating between the two, do yourself a favor and join Omni. I have about 10 friends that work-out there and love it.

Incredible customer service. I had a problem with my account about 2 years ago (turned out to be my fault). They referred me immediately to the onsite full-time billing manager. She handled my issue quickly and thoroughly. When she realized it was not Omni's fault she was very gracious and explained everything to me. Then gave me a club credit at the smoothie bar to apologize for my frustration. Top notch and world class service.
