See Tania's review--- a full-on bait and switch when closing the Bodyplex site for 'renovations'. I'd left for there to get away from Omni, then was forced to go back. Now they're forcing a $10 monthly upcharge and have never come clean with their Bodyplex expats. I had a feeling when they pulled that stunt--- only found out when a Halloween seasonal store set up shop in the 'reno' site. Shameful.

The Omni sent me to a COLLECTION AGENCY and did not try to contact me before they did so. My gym membership expired in February 2013. I received a letter from a collection agency in North Carolina dated 9/17/2014 because the Omni Club gave them my account. It said I owed an enhancement fee of $29.00 for 2014 (it was tacked onto a personal training agreement dated 6/18/2012 - I used my last training session 10/15/2012 - this is separate from my gym membership that expired in 2/2013). I paid in advance all of my contracts with the Omni and never did monthly billing.

The Omni has my current phone number, email address (on the contract I signed) and I have changed addresses, but mail is still forwarded to my new address (obviously since I received a collection letter for $129.00).

I have contacted the Omni Club to resolve this, but they cannot (will not) help me in Athens. The Manager (Curtis) won't return my calls nor will they give me the main contact information for the Corporate Office.

I have filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau.

Be very careful of what you sign. Check all the dates in all the small print on the contract whether it's a membership agreement, personal training agreement, etc.

I do not recommend the Omni Club to incoming students. I have been a long term member, and during this time the gym has declined in service and in being maintained. The bathroom tile is dirty with urine and toilet paper. The towel bin is always overflowing. The massage chairs are all partially broken or have been removed because they broke and did not get replaced. If you are lucky, you will get a TV that works on cardio machine, but don't count on it. Plenty of cardio machines are broken, turn off suddenly, or jam. I have also heard about sexual harrassment from the staff to clients, and even experienced this myself. The management is disrespectful personally and professionally, and they act superior even though you pay their salary. Stay away from the Athens mega gyms.

First off, I will say that the Omni is a very nice gym with great equipment and quality trainers. They also have an indoor Smoothie King which is great for after-workout nutrition.

HOWEVER, and that's a BIG however, the billing policies of this place are an absolute NIGHTMARE. I'll go ahead and explain my personal situation to the best of my abilities.

I have been at the University of Georgia for 4 and a half years and signed up for the Omni September 2013, and graduated December 2013. Now when I signed up for the $20/month year-long contract, I made SURE that it was possible to cancel my membership when I graduated without incurring fees. The representative assured me that was the case and it would be an easy process.

Bold-faced lie.

In order to successfully cancel your membership due to graduation, you need to show at least 3 of these: a copy of your diploma (which doesn't arrive until several months after graduation), a copy of a one way plane ticket, proof of residential change, a transcript, and several other incredibly hard to come by documents. Needless to say, I wasn't able to terminate my contract due to graduation...

The other absolutely deceitful billing policy that I just experienced took place after I got off the phone trying to cancel my membership. The financial representative explained to me that I am also required to pay a $60 "GYM IMPROVEMENT FEE"... After I asked about the charge, she simply said that the representative should have explained this to me when I signed up. He did not.

Needless to say, I'm stuck paying my membership fee along with the ridiculous gym improvement fee even though I've graduated and moved out of the city. The fact that the representatives assured me that canceling due to graduation would be an easy and painless experience is an absolute sham. So much for being nice to recent graduates...

In summary, the Omni has very nice facilities but I would only recommend signing up if you've got money to blow and to THOROUGHLY go over the contract if you decide to sign up.

Honestly, just stick to Ramsey (the UGA gym). It's one of the nicest gyms in the country and it's free if you're a student...

Longterm member and training c...

Longterm member and training client. My trainer, Leisa, just moved and I was quickly placed with a new person. The club is spotless, repaired and constantly updated. All staff is very helpful and totally professional. The club is very popular, for obvious reasons, and just opened a new location in Athens. The operator mentioned in the previous review, Don Allen, obviously knows his stuff, the club rocks and is perfectly run and the staff is extremely well trained. What did the reviewer expect him to do? Kick out a bunch of happy members so their spoiled little rear end could have everything to themselves?

Unbelievable!!! (in a good way)

Never thought I would find a health club like this in Athens GA. It looks like something out of Beverly Hills or something. And they treat you like a celebrity too!! I pay my bills on time so I don't have to worry about billing problems like the other poster. I've never had anything but superior service from the staff on any subject.

The Best In Athens

The Omni Club by far the nicest gym in Athens. It has so much equipment and tons of cardio and it's all brand new. No other gym compares to it in the Athens area. The trainers are also wonderful and can really make a difference in your fitness goals. Another cool thing I love about the Omni is its separate women's center!

Good

OMNI is a good gym, but when it comes to delicate matters, like payment and other stuff, they can get a little nasty.
