Located in Athens, W.Va., Athens Fire & Rescue is a firefighting organization that offers rescue and fire prevention and suppression services. It provides fire protection and emergency medical response services and handles more than 400,000 residential fires. Athens Fire & Rescue maintains fire engines, pumpers, compressed air foam devices, ladders, water tankers and pumps, and rescue and patrol vehicles. The department conducts fire prevention and safety education training sessions and workshops that focus on emergency response and fire extinguishing services. It also organizes first-aid, cardiopulmonary resuscitation, and bike and helmet safety classes.
